Boss - question. Do "your" kids do anything similar to USMMA recognition day where they are recognized as Mids & no longer Plebes?

Not that I'm aware of...besides our guys are cadets...we don't use that nautical terminology... :D

Boss - question. Do "your" kids do anything similar to USMMA recognition day where they are recognized as Mids & no longer Plebes?

Not that I'm aware of...besides our guys are cadets...we don't use that nautical terminology... :D

Actually, they are Cadets at CGA because there is no such thing as a Midboatman

Gawd, I crack myself up!

LFWB Dad still recovering from that OFAW. HA I KILL MYSELF...:D

No time for that, got to get ready for Army on Sunday. I see the Bears are taking on Plymouth State this weekend.

Yeah I think we have an easier time of it...ha ha...good luck to you and Eric!

Actually, LFWB backs up Eric.

But he's making the trip.

oops ok sorry I was lookin at weights only. Good luck to your son!

Geez! Ya'll made me read back ten posts to catch up dang it! Yack Yack Yack. Ya'll are worse than two little old women... LFWBDad, apparently Jamz is more interested in eating chocolate & finding some wireless internet cafe today. I haven't been able to pin the guy down (so to speak) on this wrestling thing. And I just hate it. I don't have a "good" sport to boast about the way you guys do. Karate. Hpmmmh. I thought he was gonna crew then he changed his mind, then his instructor told him to look into the wrestling thing, then nothing. I think he's Sybil. Ya know the ten personalities thing.

Mid-boat-men. Hee Hee Hee

Wireless internet cafe? Hmm more like Hard Rock Cafe in Times Sq.

I'll beat his butt! LOL He told me that tomorrow he & friends are gonna take in a museum. I'm gonna call to check in & listen closely to background noise..... :D

Museum? Oh i forgot you're the lady who owns the Brooklyn Bridge...lmao

And I paid twice for it. Don't know how that happened. The realtor didn't tell me I'd have to.

Um... got a nomination but I am not applying. I think there was a silght miscommunication in the board putting me in Merchant Marine when I never put that as preferred choice.

You should apply anyways....USMMA is a great school. What was your first choice?

JM: well after a full week in the 50's, I hope he went out and about in something warm- in the 20's here today with snow on the ground and a good gusty wind no less- and our daughter just called and told us her flight from Miami is delayed for at least an hour! Oh well! Will have to turn that roast beef into a potroast!

The good news is that it's supposed to be back in the 50's tomorrow- just enough to melt all this stuff away! Nevertheless, I will keep my eye out for those uniforms when I pass by later- taking 25A in will give me an excuse to stop for a latte on the way to LGA!

Taffy: hope you're saving your "1000th" post for your appointment news! Wonder if CC will make you a "senior" member- just think, AARP discounts could be yours! ;)

Does the plebe recognition ceremony take place in march already? that seems so early- it doesn't happen at USNA until the end of May at the start of commissioning week!

Also- can someone please clarify: I saw a posting for "midshipwoman"... is that used at USMMA? It is my understanding all Mids, male or female, are referred to as "midshipmen" at USNA. Does anyone know? I guess we have to give USMA credit where credit is due- "kay-det" is so gender neutral!

JM: believe Jamz when he says he's headed for a museum- 'cause thats a great pick-up place if ever there was one! Oh not in the galleries- but in the coffee bars and the lounge areas- lots happening there on a Sunday! Now if it was a Saturday, then he's probably telling you a story---;)

no use of "midshipwoman" at USMMA that I ever heard of. Although there is a staff member there that would probably love for that to come into regular usage. The only weird thing about USMMA is that we are "midshipmen" while at school, but "cadets" while at sea. Why that is I really don't know, especially since the term "midshipmen" comes from the old sailing days when the "officer candidates" lived midships.

navy2010 - i hope i get the news as soon as that... i am on a posting spree so maybe my 1500th..

Navy2010 - Apparently, Recognition happens only when the upperclassmen say it does. It happened in March for last year's class. Looked like Indoc all over again from the photos I've seen. Only they are smiling a little this time and really really muddy.

Taffy! :D You better be on a push-up spree. Go get busy mate.

i think kickboxing is keeping me in shape... i didnt practice for the fitness test really and i got 76 pushups... i can probably still do that many... ill procrastinate actually training till i get an appointment.
