How competitive are the economics and Russian majors? What school in Vanderbilt are they a part of? Can anyone provide any info about what these majors are like at Vanderbilt, the rigor of the classes, etc?

Thanks!

Thanks!

Tough, both.

Both fall into Arts & Sciences

There isn't a ton in the way of Russian language surprisingly, but they have a lot of cultural Russian classes.

Is the College of Arts & Sciences one of the tougher schools to gain admittance to in Vanderbilt?

The College of Arts & Science does have a lower acceptance rate than Peabody and Engineering. Economics is one of the most popular majors at Vanderbilt. S was in a class of approximately 1500. At graduation, I counted around 200 kids receiving degrees with a major in economics.

Probably b/c Owen is an above average graduate school as well...thus one would assume the business majors at Vanderbilt would likewise be good.

jman,
Economics majors at Vanderbilt and elsewhere would be a bit offended to be called business majors. While Vanderbilt does offer some business classes (accounting, managerial studies, etc.), they do not offer an undergraduate business degree.

Great, thanks for the help everyone!

I am future Russian major possibly applying for Vanderbilt as well, I have heard that the admissions rate for arts/sciences is a lot lower than the others schools.

Yeah, I'm sure the Arts & Sciences school is pretty tough to get into. We'll have to wait and see, I suppose.

I PMed you back, lilmisstaggart.
