anyone applied to U of michigan as their safety?

... like I said in the title......
anyone?

yes, and i just got in today. waiting for ED cornell, then #2carnegie mellon, #3 rice, #4 USouthCali, #5 umich

lol i applied to cmu, cornell, also.
applied to ed (and i dont wanna talk about it..haha..) and applied to tufts for second round ED. and bunch of other schools that i wanna go.
i feel relieved…after accepted to michigan

i’m also considering applying to cornell and carnegie mellon. but I just don’t see what is so attractive about carnegie mellon besides a strong engineering program, which isn’t even as strong as michigans. can someone tell me why?

Yeah, I’m instate though

cmu has great architecture, thats why. its a smaller school in a big city, def. loved the campus

according to naviance, UMich was a target school for me, but i just found out i have been deferred
i hate when naviance lies

whats naviance?

it’s a website that some schools use that compares the average SAT/ACT scores of students from your school accepted/deferred/rejected with their average GPA’s

basically graphs and stats that show who from your school got in and who didn’t

wow. intense

i applied to cmu just because my counselor told me to…lol kinda safety or something like that…
how many undergrads are in michigan?
i feel like im accepted cuz they just accept huge amount of undergrads since michigan is one humongous university. and most of students here in this website seems to be accepted to mich. .

no offense----- I like michigan.

one question-

when is the deadline of the decision, whether im going to mich or not

michigan was my safety, im oos #1 is probably uva

ahh we have naviance too!
and yes, michigan was my safety
and i got in  …thank goodness, i guess?

umich>uva imo

I applied to UMich just to get me out of the “wonderful” state of Arizona.

UMich is more of a match than a reach to me (or so I’ve been told by several people on CC), so it’s kind of a safety, but not really just because I’m applying to places like Cornell and Dartmouth, which are more reaches. My real safety, however, is U Arizona because I’m actually GUARANTEED admission and it’s in state.

Yes it was and I’m also OOS

kind of… not because i thought i was for sure in but because it is relative to the other places i’m applying… not a safety, more of a match…

so.

are there any wrestlers I can relate with?

and yes, I did get in.

Michigan is not a safe safety! LOL! But the nice thing about Michigan is that students who are good enough to concider it a safety can get their answer by December (if they apply on time). If they get in, they don’t have to worry about applying to a true safety. If they are deferred, they have the month of January (and even February) to apply to safer safeties.

definitely my safety, but doesn’t say much about where it is on my list. it was a safety b/c engineering accepts 65%, but it has a top 10 engineering program.
