I never received an email regarding the SSA. I did receive the IU Prestige Award as well as receiving DA to Kelley, however, I would like the chance to apply with the SSA. My ACT was a 28, a little low, but my GPA was fairly high (4.2+). However, I know I am very eligible for Hudson and Holland based on their eligibility requirements.

I know I can apply through specific programs’ websites, like Hudson and Holland’s, but it seems that I missed a nice piece of information because I didn’t receive the SSA email.

Am I just missing something on my OneStart account? Or is the SSA only accessible to a select group of students?

I think you will only receive the SSA through email. If you really want, I think you can email the admissions office and request the application, given that you have passed the criteria for the scholarships you intend to apply for.

For Hutton petition, do you send your letter, transcript, and letters of recommendation through email?

Accepted to IU - Bloomington last week! I got an email a couple days later informing me of a Direct Admission to Kelley School of Business (which i indicated as my top major). I was not aware of this DA even being a possibility. Does anyone know how many students are offered DA per year?

If you received the SSA invitation, what is the essay deadline? I think IU screwed up and didn’t send it to My d who has a 1450/2240but a complicated transcript without an easily discern able cumulative GPA. Tell me it isn’t December1!

I think s/he meant 1450/1600 and 2250/2400. Did you look through OnCourse for uncompleted items and at the top of the admission letter? Did she receive automatic scholarships? If so, they know her GPA as that is part of the requirements.

The deadline for SSA varies a bit, or at least it has in the past, based upon admission date and other factors.

Look at her OneStart Account online. I said OnCourse earlier–sorry, that’s a different thing, but I had it on my mind.

Read through the posts here as I know there is one that talks about SSA and where you can find info on that in her OneStart Account. Look for something that indicates missing items or things to do.

I find it very odd that she has not received a physical letter.

I was accepted to IU months ago, direct admit, scholarship, accepted to honors and I still have not received a physical letter about my acceptance. Called admissions and they said they would resend it…3 weeks and still waiting

If you have not seen the SSA invitation in OneStart, you need to make some phone calls to IU and straighten out the GPA situation. You may need to get your D’s counselor to send a letter explaining the situation.

The admission counselor can be found in the following link. It may be worthwhile to contact the one in your state/area.

The SSA application deadline is 12/1. The recommendation letter deadline is 12/15. Your D should start working on a research essay of her choice (on issues with community, society, or international scale) about 600 words with references. There are 2-3 short ones about her academic interests and contributions to her communities through EC’s. PM me if you need the exact titles.

Ugh! That’s exactly what I was afraid of! After two days of phone calls I was assured that she will get the automatic merit and an invite for selective and that it wasn’t too late. They did NOT tell me that the deadline was Dec 1. That is going to be a huge headache because she will be at a conference overseas for the next 2 weeks. If she’s lucky she’ll get a direct admit scholarship for SPEA and that will help but I don’t think she’ll be able to apply for the Cox. :(

nellieh is correct. The 12/1 deadline is for DS3. He got his SSA around 10/10 which was 5 weeks after everything was received by IU. It makes sense since students who submitted the application on 11/1 should have enough time to work on the essays for SSA.

I really hope you’re right and they give her a fair amount of time. I just don’t know how they can hold off on scholarship decisions just because they screwed up putting her in the system. Well see… Thank you for the advice and support the last couple of days. At least that’s 9K less per year.
