ace550…Thank you…now hopefully I hear from Honors program soon

hey everyone i thought i would let you guys know i got into IU a few days ago I am not a direct admit into the school of public health but I am very excited nonetheless!!

Congratulations!!

We paid our $100 with Intent to Enroll today… anybody else? Thought we may beat most of the EA wave… I have heard you are assigned a number ( the lower the better) for housing and such. Couldnt think of any reason not to??

not sure if $100 has any bearing on housing since it is not due until May 1st and housing opens up in January. I have a feeling students will put deposit down for housing and wait to hear from other universities. Most schools have not even started with the decision process. With that said I also sent in my $100.

We were told the earlier you paid your $100 and “enrolled” the better your chances are at getting your housing choice, maybe a current student will confirm?

Housing and Enrollment are two distinct things at IU. I don’t know who “told” you that the earlier you paid your enrollment deposit, the better the chance of receiving your top housing choice, but that has NOT been my experience with two kids and not the experience I’ve seen here at CC over the 4-5 years.

I know for a fact that my kids did not send in their intent forms until April. They did send in their housing forms as soon as those were available. Both ended up with their first housing choices.

By the way. IU does not have EA. IU has rolling admissions which is technically a different thing.

I personally find it a bit wrong to send in an intent form and deposit when one may or may not enroll. There is no need to do so. AGAIN, HOUSING and ENROLLMENT are not connected at IU. Do a search on the topic on the general forums.

We felt comfortable sending in housing because we were fairly certain both would attend IU, and we know from over a decade of living in Bloomington that there are always a number of students that end up in lounges at the beginning of the year.

Got my acceptance to Honors program today but still have not received official acceptance letter. Not that it really matters but it is sort of funny.

rrah is correct. You want to make sure you send in your housing deposit if you’re concerned about housing. An enrollment deposit won’t do anything for you with regards to housing.

My son applied and now has to submit his first grading period grades and write a personal statement explaining last year’s grades to the admissions office before they will accept him. Is anyone else in this situation? I feel pretty good about it because he wasn’t just rejected. His grades did suffer the last semester of his Junior year, due to our house catching on fire and being displaced form our home from several months. His grades this semester are good again (3.5 gpa). Should I be worried?

Applied on the 29th before Sandy came and wreaked havoc to Kelley.
My transcripts were sent in September via eDocs… of course it costs $4 per transcript

First AD so far!!! Only on iStart’s “confirm mail address”, saying “Congratulations again on your admission to Indiana University Bloomington!”, though I don’t know where’s the first congratulation come from lol.

Good luck everyone who’s still waiting!

Me too!! Also just on iStart, though, haha.

@kitkatbaker- I would assume your son would be admitted in this situation. In the statement be sure he says why being displaced from affected him, not just simply that it did affect him.

Is anyone else applying for DA to SPEA? I got my acceptance earlier this week!

DD’s one Start account has been updated with her acceptance! Still waiting on the email. All of her documents were received end of September so it was about 5-6 weeks wait.

Just received an email with my acceptance to the school!
I have to petition to try to get into Kelley (gpa is lower than DA). That’s the next thing to do!
Sent my documents three weeks ago and my application 9 days ago!

My GPA is 3.68 unweighted but 4.5 weighted…My SATs are very poor only at 1040. Should I even apply to Kelley or is it pretty far fetched for me to get in?

Thanks.

How hard is it to petition for Hutton Honors? I’m planning on petitioning with a stellar GPA and leadership roles in and out of the classroom, but my ACT is off by 4 composite points. Was wondering how feasible it would be to petition and gain acceptance?
