what did you guys write about in the bremen application essay ?

the question was "The unique life and cultural experiences each student brings to the university heavily influence the quality of IUB's academic and social life and its residential college system. What special perspective(s) do you feel that you will be able to share with others as a result of your own life experiences and background? What special contributions can you make to a distinctly international university, both academically and socially? Cite a personal experience to illustrate these contributions."

i wrote that i will be able to share with others as a result of my life experience and background my kinship of all people regardless of nationality, race :)

I just received a letter from IUB saying that I'm admitted from Round II with a 5 000 Euro merit-based scholarship and some other grants and loans still to be estimated. I'm probably not enrolling because 18 000 Euros is much above what my family can afford. Anyway, how big are your merit-based scholarships???

well, first, I got into Amherst and will go there.
BUT, Bremen remains a great school - just that the 3 year course is too much for me. Ckakalacheva, it's great if you got a scholarship, because it is substracted from your student loan. You will only have a 500 Euro loan. Wait until the FinAid decision, which will award you the need-based scholarship. You'll definitely be able to attend, you got a great deal, congratulations.

Thanks :o) Congrats for being accepted to Amherst!!! It's a wonderful college! I applied too but I'm still waiting for a decision to come along. Are there many Romanian applicants to US Colleges?

"Are there many Romanian applicants to US Colleges?"
About as many as Bulgarians, from my knowledge. Anyway, best of luck with all your colleges.

I just received an e-mail from IUB saying that I'm admitted, too :)
They say it normally takes four to six weeks to process financial aid applications. Can anyone tell me about his/her experience with finaid at IUB? Is it really true that the university is need-blind and most of the intls receive full rides?

I am an international applicant and got an e-mail that I am admitted. Fin aid packages will come later. I also have the same question, how much we can expect?

Yes, it is need blind. About the full rides, you could say that, but they expect you to provide about 3,000 to 5,000 Euros by working, which you are allowed to do legally. Finding a job is not that hard if you speak German.

ckakalacheva, I have not been notified about scholarships yet.
I hope they'll write soon... and announce some good news, too. :)
btw I'm from Bulgaria, too :)

ahtsisab, yes, IUB does meet full demonstrated need, except for the job you have to find for yourself, but they provide assistance in finding it especially to freshmen.

Friends, I know the study in IUB lasts 3 years but is based on a 4 year curricula. Can anybody explain whether after completing a 3yr UG course, the US universities will accept me for graduate studies? What about the graduate program in IUB?

They will accept you for graduate study, and it seems to me that many people from IUB actually went to study at grad school in the US. The problem with the 3 years instead of 4 timespan is that you`ll get 33% more courses each year, which is going to be quite demanding.

thanks Bogororo. You seems to know so much about IUB. I am offered admission at IUB with some meritscholarship.
wish me luck for a good finaid package without which it may not be possible to attend IUB.
