Anyone applying to Jacobs University Bremen?

stevenlyan, congratulations!!! So early! They must really liked you :)

BTW, I haven’t applied yet - didn’t have enough time to get everything before the 1st of December.

@prostozina

Hey I noticed that it’s your birthday tomorrow.
So happy birthday~ :D

Haha thank you very much, stevenlyan! :)

Are you planning to attend Jacobs? I remember you said that you’d also apply to US LACs…

@prostozina

Well I apply through ED so I will attend Jacobs. I just love it!
Just can’t wait to see how the campus is like!

stevenlyan, right. I forgot that you applied ED, not EA. Anyway, I’m happy for you :)

@prostozina

Thanks~ Waiting for your good news~ :)

@Stevenlyan - congrats bro! Hope you have a nice time in Bremen.
I was unable to attend the webinar due to some personal conflicts. If you attended the seminar, can you please skype me the details. Also, they asked me to send transcripts via post even after my counselor submitted the school forms-Strange. Moreover, they asked me for the login details of my collegeboard and ETS so they could verify my scores despite the fact that I spent $11 & $18 for sending my SAT & TOEFL report via Collegeboard and ETS reporting services. I’ve sent them a mail asking clarification of the issue. BTW @Mac546 @Racheal52 @prostozina @stevenlyan did any of you bump into such an issue?

@Mac546 @Stevenlyan I’d choose College 3 maily due to Air hockey table and Halloween celebrations but I could also end up choosing Krupps for they have nice diwali celebrations. I hope we can change residential colleges after joining Jacobs. But none of it matters until I’m selected for Jacobs. @Stevenlyan Did your ‘FA’ letter arrive yet?

@thunderboltsid

Sorry but I don’t have a video or a usable speaker at the moment. Because of the latency I miss quite much information. But according to the PPT they showed us, ESS is a major consisting of lab experiment, lectures and outdoors excursion (and internship of course). And in the third year student will specialize in one specific area.

Yes, my scores came out in late Oct, and in order to catch the deadline of Nov.1st I just sent them my login info so they could check for my scores. My application materials were all sent by mail except for the online application form.

The financial package is not yet available yet. I guess it will take a few more days or a couple of weeks.

@stevenlyan I am surprised as they are the first university to ask transcripts via postal mail despite the fact that my counsellor has sent them via common app school report.
I’ll be sending them in a couple of days-Doesn’t really make sense to use common app if universities like JUB are asking attested transcripts via postal mail even after downloading the common app report, I’m glad US universities don’t ask so else I’d have been paying a lot of courier bill.

@thunderboltsid

Just regards the bills as your investment in education :)

I receive scholarship of 15,000 euro this morning! The complete financial package at the moment is being processed. I think now I am quite sure that my family can afford the tuition.

@stevenlyan Congrats man, Is the 15000 EUR scholarship for three years(5000 per year) or one year(15000 per year = 45000 for three years)?

@thunderboltsid

It’s 15k for each year, meaning 45k in total :D

@stevenlyan Congrats dude, that’s an insane amount of scholarship - I secretly wish I knew of Jacobs before November 1 :P. Anyways, I hope I get selected with decent scholarships.

@thunderboltsid

You will! How’s the application now?

@stevenlyan sent the transcripts on paper today, will reach them in 7-10 days. I’ve already sent the financial documents three days ago. Hoping for the best. BTW which major were you selected for?

They didn’t mention it. I have asked a senior, who said it’s very flexible and could be changed at any time after you arrive at Jacobs. But of course you have to make sure your credits will suffice for graduation.

Wait they already announced first round decisions??? I still haven’t heard anything yet…

@kcj2196

I applied through ED. R1 decision might be notified in January

Ohhhhh ok… Thanks!!
