Anyone else cry when they see other CCers stats?

I cry tears of pity for the kids who get swept into the credentials game.

Chance me for HYPMSDFASDJFKALJ?

Do I have a chance?

Arachne: Not bad, but not great. You need more ECs and you certainly need to take the SAT and ACT again. With those scores you won’t be competitive enough.

OMG I totally thought I was competitive. I’m going to have to add more clubs. But what if adcoms think I just did that just to get in?!?!?!?! Also is taking the SAT/ACT twice going to hurt my chances?
Attending HYPMSKSDFJAJSDLADJFK is my DREAM. I’ve got to do everything I can to get in. Agggh Angrybob you are stressing me out :(

This website is a terrific resource, but you can’t take it too seriously.
@GoldenWest: That seems surprising. The entire point of AP is that it is the same everywhere. There are plenty of people who can, with considerable effort, make 5’s on more than 4 AP exams a year. Claiming that AP’s at your school are harder seems a little bit pointless since everyone takes the same exam. Practically speaking, the best AP teachers aim to make their classes hard enough so that motivated students can make a 5. Making an AP class more difficult than that is unhelpful to everyone.

Its okay. Half the time I don’t even know what the abbreviations on here mean.

This is so true… glad I’m not the only one

Disregard some of these stats. I go to a small school (an average of 70 people per grade) and many still go on to prestigious schools. About three years ago we had a guy go to Penn state and the valedictorian of the class went on to Brown university. I all depends on your individual stats and don’t worry about what others have especially on this site since some might not be totally truthful.

Exactly! What is “10 char” supposed to mean? And why do bragging parents always find it necessary to write “daughter” and “son” as “d” and “s”?

lol This was supposed to be a response to the comment about abbreviations.

10char is written because you have to have 10 characters written to post something, and if you just write “Ok” then it won’t post, so people write 10char. That one has a use.

Some people on CC make me want to give up, and others give me hope. Scrolling through Results threads shows me that I do have a chance. And sometimes, kids with very similar profiles will get very different results. You can’t deny that the college admissions process is somewhat arbitrary at times. Just don’t sweat it and keep doing the best that you can. That sounds ridiculously clich

@CE527M
That makes sense. I feel stupid now. Thanks for clearing that up!

I don’t get that emotional, I just die a little on the inside.

Oh. 10char.

It does make me feel pretty bad about myself sometimes but if they’ve just gotten into a really good school and they seem like a nice person I’m happy for them.
