Anyone else transferring OUT of GW?

because all you've done is complain that GW is not worth the cost but you would not even apply if given a free ride, which would remove your number one reason for not attending the school. What is so bad about GW other than its high price tag? because a lot of people go there and do not pay full price. GW happens to also give out some of the largest amounts of aid to help deal with its, I will agree, outrageous price. But for me, and probably quite a few others, it was the cheapest option after I received my financial aid package.

"You couldnt give me a full ride to apply or go to GW..."

mmm, sorry, all the evidence points to the fact that you were rejected. Why the hell else are you posting here at all?

Use 'evidence' all you want, but I didnt apply and I wasnt rejected.

BO5TON, then why do you care so much? It's hard to believe you have such strong emotions about a school which you admittedly have no involvement with, or personal knowledge about.

But perhaps I just overlooked your broad interests. Your posting history shows you sharing your opinions regarding Penn State, UMaryland, the Ivies, Villanova, UNC, and several other schools, in addition to GW. You tend to say unflattering things about each of them.

Since you say you have attended BU, and are now transferring to Temple, it's quite astounding how you have achieved such a profound expertise. I was particularly intrigued by your opinions on exactly what the Ivies are looking for, and who could or could not get admitted.

Actually, I love Nova and UNC...

Why would you take the time to read my posting history???

How can you despise GW and yet like UNC? UNC is absolutely disgusting.

In what sense?

Does the rejection letter come in the regular mail, or is it done by email?

Who is that addressed to?

Guess.....

As I said, if you're asking me, I have no idea as I didnt apply...

now wait just a minute. let's go back a few steps. qwilde why is UNC "absolutely disgusting" as you say? we are talking about people degrading schools without adding any substance to the conversation and here the most egregious example of that is going unnoticed. first of all, what you said is offensive and you provided no basis for such a comment.

UNC is ranked a full 26 spots above GW. Among its public peers, a measure that is even more important than the general rankings since USNews' criteria puts public institutions at a distinct disadvantage, UNC ranks 5th. Meanwhile GWU only manages to take the 37th spot among its private peers.

But despite its reputation the school maintains an affordable price, unlike GWU, and through its Carolina Covenant program, guarantees that low income students graduate debt-free. Its in-state tuition is below other public schools that are TIERS below it. Its out-of-state tuition is 5K-10K lower than that of its top 5 public peers, such as UVA, Michigan, and Berkeley. Perhaps UNC is disgusting in the fact that it is extremely affordable and cheap in comparison to what you receive from the school. Some idiots tend to think that the more you spend on education, the better its quality. Perhaps UNC is disgusting in your point of view due to the fact that it lacks the levels of wealth that are almost ubiquitous at GWU, but at least the students are more intelligent with an average ACT score that is 3 points higher than GWU's (or over 1000 points higher on the old SAT).

UNC's endowment is over twice the size of GWU's.

As the nation's oldest public university, UNC has educated students in four different centuries. Twenty years ago GWU was virtually a local community college.

I could keep going on, but will stop here in the interest of time.
Qwilde, you are officially and idiot calling UNC "disgusting" in comparison to GWU.

Truely GWU is disgusting when you compare the two campuses. I will try to use the word disgusting in a more rational manner to talk about the way the two campuses strike the eye. Compare for yourself, which image repulses you more?. Both shots are taken at one of the main quads (only quad for GWU) at each university (ps GWU the facilities at your school look FANTASTIC judging by the wonderful piece of 60's era looking architecture in the center). Perhaps you should spend less on the f-ing glitter paper you use in your pompous admission packet.

UNC central quad- Polk Place (oh and yes, we have a president who was an alumnus, I think the closest think GWU has to that is Jackie Kennedy who might not even be a full almunus (ie spent the majority of her studies elsewhere) and who worked really HARD for her prominence in American society. Now that I think of it she's really a great symbolic alumnus for the entire university.

oops forgot to post the link to the UNC quad picture:

It still is.

Go Heels!

Boston - I am REALLY sick of jealous and/or ignorant people trashing a wonderful school. Do you have a vested interest in being hurtful to those who are enjoying their experience at GW? Do you have a desire to lower it's ratings? I can't recall if you are a student there, or perhaps a "wannabe" who didn't get in, or can't afford it, but, let it go already.
GW is NOT an expensive community college. It is a top tier school with highly intelligent, passionate students that have a need to be in Washington, DC, in the center of things, so that they can truly make an impact on the world. What's your story?

gggw - There is a 92 per cent retention rate. That tells you alot. Most students LOVE it here. A few don't. People are thrilled to get in, and yes, many do choose GW over Georgetown. Georgetown is a Jesuit school - that does NOT work for many people.

PEEJAY I agree with you.. I'm a soon to be Elliott School student (CLASS OF 2012) and I have lots of friends at GW who are enjoying their experience and thriving.

GO GW.........

Do you have a vested interest in being hurtful to those who are enjoying their experience at GW?

-Not particularly

Do you have a desire to lower it's ratings?

-I wouldnt mind that, but I cant single-handidly do anything about it

I can't recall if you are a student there, or perhaps a "wannabe" who didn't get in, or can't afford it, but, let it go already.

-Not a student there, didnt apply, didnt get rejected, can afford it without issue

-I wouldnt mind that, but I cant single-handidly do anything about it

Based on this comment, I would say you have some serious issues with anger and could use some spelling lessons.

If you are not a student there, you really can't comment. I can only imagine you have some agenda other than "being helpful" when you make such horrible comments throughout this particular board. Where is it you go to school?

Best of luck to you, Clippernation. The Elliott School is amazing and you will have a wonderful experience at GWU.
