Anyone else transferring OUT of GW?

I spelled it 'handidly' instead of handedly, shoot me. I basically just woke up.
I have no anger issues in the slightest.

It just dawned on me, BOSTON, why are you on a thread called "Anyone else transferring out of GW" if you are not even in? Why the passion if you've never had the experience of being there? Hmmmm?

I know a few people who are considering transferring out, a few from here, so I was curious initially.

Please. Knowing a few people who are considering transferring out does not create the kind of passion you have against GW. No one on this board is that naiive. What you are doing is not nice.

Have I hurt your feelings, PEEJAY?

This isn't about feelings, BOSTON. It's about ethics. It's unethical to trash a person, place or thing for the pure joy of doing it. I realize you have an agenda - what is it? And BTW, you never mentioned what superior institution of higher learning you are currently enrolled at?

PEEJAY B05TON goes to Boston University. Check out his posts he most likely has alot of available time. By the way.....This isn't the only thread he trashes...

No, I don't go to BU

I know quite a few students who have transferred or want to transfer out of GW, and the reason why is always the same. The other schools are ranked higher, and thus are "better".

You don't see many people going from GW to "inferior" schools. When people transfer, it is usually to places like Brown or Georgetown. The quality of their GW experience has nothing to do with it. These people go into GW knowing that they are probably going to transfer, no matter how much they like it at GW.

I am a very happy graduate of GW... Like pretty much every other college, some students fit in fabulously at GW and others hate it with a passion. It's nothing personal; I don't think they're trying to "destroy" the reputation of the university. Some of my best friends transferred out after a year; others are extremely proud alumni.

I actually spent a semester at a top 10 LAC as well as a semester at my local state school, and I contemplated transferring out of GW permanently for a while. While the students at the LAC were in general more "close-knit" or friendly, I thought the classes were significantly worse than the classes I took at GW. There was a LOT of "fluff" at the "prestigious" LAC, especially in the soc/psych/poli sci classes -- many students simply repeated the (extremely political) views and theories of the professors and did not bother thinking for themselves. On the other hand, if you ask ANY GW student about a current event, I'm guessing he or she would be highly informed, analytical, and able to tell you exactly what he/she thinks.

In addition, I liked the work ethic of GW students better -- even the wealthiest kids I knew held internships, part-time jobs, or SOMETHING. There are many schools across the country where students simply party and join extracurriculars for four years, and then are shocked when they go out in the "real world" and find that people are not as willing to coddle them.

Finally, the facilities of GW are unbeatable. Yes, the school is ridiculously expensive, but when you're looking for a computer lab the night before finals, you'll be glad to have access to the awesome 24 hour facilities available on campus. I loved going to class in CLEAN classrooms and living in an upscale dorm (though I eventually moved off campus to save money).

Things like that may not matter to some people, but they mattered to me.

Just my opinion.

I worked at the admissions office for years, and no, it's NOT true that "many" people turn down Georgetown for us. Tales of "so and so got into Georgetown but came here instead" are highly exaggerated. I think GW stands on its own merits (much like NYU, BU, etc.), and there is no need to claim that it is Georgetown/is better than Georgetown.

Personally, I'd rather attend GW/BU/NYU any day over more suburban schools (even if they're higher ranked).

BOSTON - We all know you transferred from BU to Temple because BU was too challenging for you. You've posted almost 900 messages, from which your story is revealed. Now stop trashing schools you wish you could go to.

BU wasnt too challenging for me, it just wasnt worth it. It also didnt have my major, which is a pretty big problem. I dont wish I could go to GW, believe me on that...

That's weird; I thought BU was known for being overly challenging/having huge grade deflation? One of my closest friends went there and got her ass kicked academically despite being a National Merit winner/valedictorian/etc.

Yeah, if you don't like BU, you probably wouldn't like GW -- but a lot of people do. I actually loved BU when I visited my friend there a couple of years ago. The St. Charles river is gorgeous!

And? I didnt try in high school. Wasn't important to me. What have you accomplished? Am I dumber than you because I did worse? No. I didnt try. The end.

Hey, Boston, either you're a troll playing a joke on us or you are a very angry kid with lots of issues. I suggest we ignore him, because his job is to enoy us like he did in many boards.

I'm neither of those.

schmohawk ignore this Boston kid, he likes to pick an argument. silence treatment is the best way to deal with this kid. he's been pestering all sites, especially GW

B05TON... Get the hint already. This is getting old.. Get LOST..

ARCMP. You are calling me an idiot and yet you are resorting to logical fallacies. You committed tu quoque by asserting I could not judge a school simply because I attend GW. And you should inquire about my opinion before attacking it. I hate UNC simply because of where it is located. I used to live a few miles away from Cherry Hill and I tend to find the people xenophobic, racists, and narrowminded (I am not American). And by the way I hate the architecture at GW and I am thinking about transferring (maybe to some of the higher ranked schools that I was originally admitted to).
