You shouldn't apologize for being bitter. I'm honestly pretty disgruntled with the UC's at this point too (though I still want to go to one because their education is just too good of a bargain to pass up). It's absolutely Bullsh** that they're cutting admission rates because of budget cuts.

It doesn't make sense that they're allowed to deny your request to change your major but that they are allowed to tell students, AFTER applying, that they're cutting admissions.

It depends on your major. I am a sociology major and got accepted to Berkeley w/out completing my Soc 5 prereq. When I went to the Cal orientation to sign up for our classes, they would not let us sign up for certain classes until we declared, they let us declare our major as soon as they seen that we were enrolled in the last prereq. To make a long story short, yes it is possible to get accepted to Cal w/out all your prereqs completed.

in that case, do you guys really think that for my case... since the minimum gpa to be considered for communications studies @ UCLA is 3.5, that UCLA will admit someone with a 3.52 & all major pre-reqs done over me? I have a 3.91 and 4/7 done. again, 2 of which are not taught around my area even. :/ that'd be dissapointing.

haha woman.of.troy you must be talking about somebody like me. i have slightly lower than a 3.5, but I have all my pre reqs plus some extra stuff for berkeley.

WomanofTroy: you have an excellent chance of getting in. I know I was only missing one prereq but then again I only had three prereqs so in actuality I had 2 out of 3 completed. You have quite a few done and a high GPA, I don't think you have anything to worry about.

Don't worry I'm below average for Cal admission and my major pre-reqs aren't done. So I'm hoping that my IGETC cert and personal stmt will redeem me.

It really depends on if your major is impacted or not. I've talked with a counselor at ucla and I was freaking out about not being able to take a required course at my community college because they barely offered it. She told me since my major is not impacted, that's not going to be a drastic effect regarding my admission. That they will look at all the other criteria.
