Anyone ever get accepted to LA/B without finishing pre reqs?

I was just reading the B website and they say that if you do not finished your pre reqs then you can get in.

Do you mean Cal's website when you say "B website"? if not what do you mean? Where does it say that if you don't finish prereqs you can still get in?

Yeah, I've read about that too in some pdf doc (don't remember where), but I think you can only declare your major after you've completed the pre-reqs...

It's most likely up to the discretion of whoever reads your app, but the odds are not favorable

it says you should complete atleast 80% of the courses on the the website to be competitive. well thats what it said on mine, for my major (civil engineering).

My impacted major says complete as many of the 7 pre-reqs prior to transfer. but i felt like they emphasized keeping a higher gpa more. i think i'll have 4 pre-reqs done. and 2 courses they don't offer at my school or around my area so really i'm only missing 1, the rest i can take my first quarter as a transfer, i'm assuming.

If one of the pre-req's isn't offered at your school, it will NOT count against you at all.

For instance, for economics majors, Berkeley requires a Calculus based Statistics class as a prereq, but almost none of the CCC's in Norcal offer it (De Anza offers it once every 3 years); it's a prereq that Berkeley anticipates students will take once they are admitted.

Ditto what poppin said. Another example - for sociology at Berkeley, they say "many new transfers have not taken the prerequisite Sociology 5, since it is not offered at many community colleges. If you haven't taken Soc 5 yet, it is highly recommended that you take it your first semester at CAL. It is best to enroll in it during Phase I, as it sometimes fills up in Phase II.

From <a href="http://sociology.berkeley.edu/index.php?page=transfer%5B/url%5D">http://sociology.berkeley.edu/index.php?page=transfer</a></p>

im not sure what they answered "Yes" to but:

"Q: Is it true that I'm not eligible to transfer to Berkeley because I will need the summer to finish my required coursework?
Q: Is it true that I'm not eligible to transfer to Berkeley because I have not completed the necessary breadth/IGETC courses, even though I have taken difficult courses?
A: Yes. Admission decisions are based on your current grades and courses and all requirements must be met. If you feel you have an unusually compelling case to make, write it in the "Comments" box of the appropriate form on your Required Forms list at myBerkeleyApplication."

im assuming required coursework is pre req.

So, anyways, this info gives us not-finished-with-prereq guys a glimmer of hope, but then I remember all of the highly competitive applicants with 4.0's and with all courses done
/puke

Guyy, I think by "REQUIRED," it means the minimum UC eligibility requirements, not major prep

^ i hope you're right. in that case i still have a chance, YES!

Someone feel not-lazy that can give Berk a call to clear this matter? :P

i shouldve wrote something in the comment box

Actually it I think it is good that you wrote in the comments box. I believe that we are all referring to the college of letters & sciences which have different requirements then the schools of engineering at UCLA and UCB.
So having at least 80% of your prerequisites completed for engineering is probably true.

yeah, i realize that it won't affect me. so i guess a very decent gpa and all but one pre-reqs done shouldn't be an automatic rejection. quite the contrary.

My major does not even have major prerequisites that can be completed at a community college so I am kind of nervous.

i am referring to school of engineering for la/b.

<a href="http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/educators/counselors/resources/materials/A4T.pdf%5B/url%5D">http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/educators/counselors/resources/materials/A4T.pdf</a>
Page 11 says for the Berkeley College of Engineering you have to complete all pre-reqs. LA it just says that you'll be assessed on their completion, not that it's required.

Even for TAP Students, UCLA says that for the following majors, students MUST have completed all their prereq courses to even be considered:

Business Economics
Economics
Economics / International Area Studies
Life Sciences
Political Science
Psychology
Sociology

interpret that as you will..

****ing UCLA. I missed the major change deadline by 20 HOURS and they wouldn't honor it. I applied as BizEcon hoping they would accept me, if not just use my alternate major of Economics which I had completed all pre-reqs for.

I've said it before and i'll say it again, UCLA can eat it. Why even ask for an alternate major? Bunch of pricks.

I'm bitter, don't mind me.
