Anyone ever took Zoology or Environmental Science in high school? what labs did you in the classes?

I haven’t taken these courses but was curious how these classes were and what labs were done in these classes.

I took APES and in one of the labs the teacher tought a whole bunch of high school students to brew ethanol so that was something that was probably a questionable decision

@ski_racer was APES fun? Was the AP Exam easy or hard?

Yes, I really enjoyed it. It really inspired me to take action in some real world issues and lately it’s been impacting how I’m thinking about majors. I found the exam to be easy (got a 5), but I am a naturally talented student so I wouldn’t bank too much on my perception of it.

@ski_racer were there any field trips in that class? would taking environmental science online still be fun or would i miss out on the lab component? I’m not totally sure if there is no lab if I take it online. Right now I attend Communtiy College, Environmental Science is only offered online right now, and hope in the future that they offer It face to face at my campus or hope I’ll be able to take It when I transfer to a University.

Is Biology or Chemistry a prerequisite for AP Environmental Science?

Has anyone else taken these classes in college as well?

Ecology should be offered at my community college next year so hopefully that class combines Zoology and environmental science.

Here are a few electives at my school and their course descriptions. I haven’t taken either of these.
Ecology: Discussions and readings in the inter-relationships of organisms and their environments. Topics will include population growth, demography, predator-prey interactions, aquatic ecology and biodiversity. Includes and 1.5 hour laboratory that will emphasize ecological principles through a combination of field and laboratory exercises.

Zoology: Survey of the major taxa of the animal kingdom. Emphasis on evolutionary relationships, structure and function, reproduction and development. A one and one-half hour laboratory once per week will include dissections to examine similarities and differences across the major phyla.

Thankfully my school will offer an Ecology course next year. My school also offers a Biology course that involves Zoology and dissections.

You should take General Biology 1 and 2 before you take Ecology.

My Ecology class at CC needs General Biology 1 and General Chemistry 1

These are the prerequisites for Ecology at my CC

Biology I-Cellular and Molecular processes
Biology II-Diversity of Life
General Chemistry I

I realized a mistake when I typed the title of the thread. I forgot the word do in the second sentence. What labs did you do in these classes? Is the Question I meant to type Instead of what labs did you in these classes.
