The letter came an hour ago. It is dated February 10th (Saturday) and was mailed in Atlanta. The postage meter stamp was dated February 9th but there isn't anything on the envelope to indicate when it was actually mailed. We are in the Washington area. No email yet.

It was a two-page letter in a regular business size envelope. I was certain that it was a "No" because it was small.

My husband went out and bought a bottle of Coca Cola and we toasted the foundation and all of you, semifinalists and finalists. Congratulations to those who have heard and best of luck to those who are waiting. Making it to semi-finalist was huge and you should all be very proud. If it doesn't go anywhere further for you, remember that oftentimes when one door closes, another opens. I think a door may have closed for my daughter last Saturday and that this letter is the other door opening for her -- not necessarily the journey we planned, but a very, very good journey nonetheless.

You all are wonderful. Thank you so much for holding our hands and helping us through the technical problems. I look forward to hearing all about Atlanta.

omg, add my name to the list!!!!!! Finalist! can't wait to go to Atlanta, and the best part of this program is there is continuing alumni connections, too! good luck to everyone else still waiting!

got the letter and i can hardly wait to meet all of you...looking forward to an awesome time in hotlanta...has anyone been able to download the forms yet?

good luck to semifinalists waiting to hear!

prudential - not selected
nestle - finalist but only like honorary recognition - i don't get the trip to hollywood
toyota - semifinalist (another app to complete)
COKE (best one of all) -finalist
and william and mary - haven't heard anything yet, i don't think they have announced. I was just guessing/hoping it was this week...or maybe they have announced and I'm not one of those selected....who knows.

like the rest of you - can't wait to meet you in atlanta!

don't give up yet! coke has proven itself to be peculiar in its mailings, so perhaps you might get something tomorrow--perhaps a v-day present lol...

so my question now is about letting the schools i applied to know about this recognition ...

a week ago i sent an update with my transcript stating that I was a semifinalist and other things

now i want to notify them that i am a finalist. Can I do this by email? or should I snail mail this too? Thanks for the advice. Also, with it being so far into the application reading process, what would be the best way to get their attention?

idk...i didn't notify any of mine about semifinalist, so i'm not sure on that one...
but generally snail mail/fax is more likely to be read than email...

hey, does anybody know when the teacher we nominated for the Educator of Distinction thing finds out?

for those who are waiting - check your email......received finalist email letter today with attachments for forms......and also received semifinalst certificate today with letter - good luck!

baah! no email for me, but i didn't get one when i was SF, either...and the forms online aren't available yet...or is that just me? anyone able to get in?

sensi--certificate? i just got a letter...but i haven't checked today...did you get 2 packages?

zel17, email for finalist from J Mark Davis, President - snail mail with Semi Certificate and congrats letter from CC Company....have not been able to access anything on site yet --no list of finalists up -- hope you hear soon!

My daughter also received the email (with 7 or so attachments for arrangements, waivers, short bio, etc.). During the Semifinalisat round, she received both the email (the emails went out in batches) and the snail mail. Maybe those of you who received one but the other last time will repeat the pattern this time.

Snail mail letter that came Monday did not contain a certificate -- just a two-page letter. I'm wondering whether the various regions (there are ten) handle this differently.

This time, my daughter could open the email attachments. She still can't see the list of finalists on the public part of the website or access the password-protected sections. I'm sure they'll have those things up soon.

to clarify ... both the finalist email with attachments and a large envelope by regular mail with a semifinalist certificate and letter of congrats for semifinalist status were received today ... good luck!

Then it must differ, region by region, as you seem to be the only one with a certificate and large envelope as far as I can tell. No big deal, of course.
