I haven't gotten a letter or an email yet, so I'm really thinking that I didn't advance. Which sucks. But I'm not that surprised... I mean I'm not even in the top 10% of my class (though I do have a good gpa)

Has anyone gotten a rejection letter yet? I'm in the west...

Hey guys! I know I'm new to this discussion board, but I wanted to let you know that I'm a finalist! I'm from Virginia Beach and I can't wait to meet everyone in Atlanta!!

i hail from a tiny suburb in rochester, ny!

congrats, brooke!

you'll slowly get addicted to CC...i started perusing when i was looking up scholarship info, and haven't looked back since...very, very useful site...

Hello~ I have been following the messages and have not joined thus far. I am in Ohio and did not receive a packet for the finalist. My sister was a finalist in 2004 ~ was hoping to have the same opportunity. She still remembers Coca-Cola week in Atlanta with fond memories. Best of luck to each of you and with your education as well.

My daughter received the email with the attachments. They are liability waivers and releases, plus a request for a 100-150 word informal introductory biographical statement that will be included in a booklet Finalists receive before the April Scholars Weekend. Everything is due back by March 9th. Nothing takes a lot of time to fill out. One form does require a parent's signature, with two witnesses (but NOT notarized or anything like that).

She still cannot get into the Finalists' area on the website and the list of Finalists has not been posted on the public part of the site.

If you have not heard by now, does that mean that you definitely did not become a finalist? My understanding is that the Foundation has had logistical issues this year...are those who are not selected notified as well???

Well, regardless of what happens at this point, congratulations to everyone who got it!

I feel that way about you and many of the others. It has pleased me so much to see so many of you applicants helping each other with the logistics.

I think that you all are going to have a fantastic time getting to know each other in Atlanta. It will be fun to hear all about it.

In the meantime, don't worry too much about the forms. The only hard bit is the bio and you can get started on a draft for that without the forms or instructions.

Do you have the telephone number for the foundation? If you can't get into the website to get the forms by next week, you probably should call them. I could try to PM the forms to you as a last resort but it is probably better that you let them know that their attempts to email you aren't working -- I believe you received the SF and Finalist letters but not the emails. If I have that right, I'm a little concerned that you might miss important notices if you don't let them know there's a problem.

The only way applicants definitely knew in the last round was to receive a letter and/or email from the Foundation congratulating them or to look at the posted list of Semifinalists. I thought that the Foundation was going to list the Finalists on the website but the pull-down tab that says "Semifinalists and Finalists" hasn't been operative for about two weeks. Since the Finalists were supposed to be able to get into the password-protected areas of the website and can't, I don't know whether the inaccessibility of the Finalist list is deliberate or a technical problem.

I have not heard of anyone getting notification that they are not a Finalist. I had the impression that Semifinalists who did not advance were going to be notified, but I don't know where I got that idea.

so, does the email say anything like all finalists have been notified? i'm assuming that they would do the emails as 1 whole group, not just region by region...

The email that my daughter received was sent a week ago (on Wed., Feb. 14th). It is from the head of the foundation, not a regional committee. There's no indication whether the messages went out in batches. It just starts off:

Congratulations Coca-Cola Scholar, Class of 2007! If you have not yet received the letter we mailed informing you of your selection as a Coca-Cola Scholar, well then, you get a big surprise from this email.

On behalf of the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation, your local Coca-Cola Bottler, and the entire Coca-Cola System, it is my great privilege to congratulate you on becoming a Coca-Cola Scholar.

Since the website tab that's supposed to show the lists of Finalists isn't operative, you could call the Foundation (the number was in your Semifinalist letter) and ask, especially if you are one of the Semifinalists who received the email but not the letter or vice versa in December.

They've posted the list of Regional Scholars/Finalists by state on the foundation's website. If you click on the "More Info" tab at the top, you'll see the link for the lists of Semifinalists and Finalists. Both lists are working.

If your name is on the Finalist link, use your user name and password (the same ones you used to get into the protected part of the site as a Semifinalist) to log in under the "Four Year" tab. There's a form they need quickly in order to make travel arrangements for you. It is NOT one of the forms that was sent as an email attachment, so you need to do this right away even if you have already sent in the Finalist email attachment forms. Plus, those of you who did not receive the Finalist email or can't open the attachments will be able to download the releases and indemnities that the foundation needs to receive (by mail) in early March (these are the ones that were attached to the email).

Congratulations to the 252 Finalists and to the 2100 Semifinalists. Getting anywhere in this process is an enormous honor.

P.S. My daughter received a fun congratulatory letter from the regional bottler yesterday (but no certificate, so I think different regions do different things). She likes the seal and the classic Coke bottle watermark on the letterhead.

thanks very much Grace...I have the forms now. I can't believe they ask seating preference, though! That's so considerate!

for those who are flying--does anybody know what time everything officially starts? i'm trying to get a rough idea of when i'd be leaving...it's about a 4-hour flight from here.

any ideas about the honored teachers? they don't get to come, do they?

sorry yet another question.
did anyone else check the box saying that you were considering / accepted to emory university on the coke scholars site to be considered for more scholarship money? does anyone know when we find out about that?
