I have purchased nothing but two pillows. :(

I’m going to be screwed in a few weeks.

Haven’t started yet, plan to go shopping as soon as possible.

I still need some clothes, like just…clothes. I have like, a few jeans and I think I need more than 5 for college? Also some shoes since I’ve been walking around in sandles all summer and I can’t remember where my shoes are but I’m pretty sure they weren’t in good condition.

Still need to go get my bedding, alarm clock, extension cord, some new bras, and an umbrella.

Clothes are good to buy right now. A lot of stores are doing summer clearance.

I’ve got just about everything now - just need pillowcases and some toiletry stuff.

I like expensive clothing, but people who advertise that they were expensive clothing (e.g. Dolce and Gabbana logos everywhere) **** me off.

Sooo done!!!

Don’t get me started on that stupid brand name handbag ****. I mean I can afford them but really-that much for a purse? Well, whatever floats your boat, lol.

I can always go shopping for more clothes!!

it feels so good to be done! but i feel like i have too much stuff

2 large suitcases + duffel bag with some random toiletries in it which ill use when i visit home for a week + backpack + printer + 2 large boxes with towels, pillows, hangers, boots, etc in it

is that way too much?

Depends on how large your room is and how much your roommate is bringing. I brought half a uhaul full of stuff and managed fine, but other students would definitely not have been able to pull that off. I would guess that you are fine.

I just have the re-stocking and such that continuing students do.

I also have to add a few things because I’m going to be an RA this year so I don’t get to borrow stuff from roommates.

I have a list of a few things I need to get as a continuing student this year, too. Out of a list of like ten things (most of them little things for an emergency kit I want to put together), I’ve only gotten one thing so far-- a laundry hamper with wheels. Last year I had to wait for the days my fiance was coming to visit me because I couldn’t lift my laundry hamper to get it downstairs without going flying down the stairs myself. XD I also want to get a better floor lamp, a whiteboard, a whiteboard for my door (mine from last year broke when I took it down), a container with a lid for clean dishes (kept getting dusty last year), a scale, and a vacuum. My parents won’t be home from Florida to take me shopping until August 26th, and then I move in on the 31st. Hopefully that works out.

fairybag: It’s not that I want to have more clothes just to look good; like I said in my original post, I just need more clothes in general. I’ve outgrown a lot of stuff or they’re worn-out.

No…I’m waiting to get most of my storage stuff when I get there

Barely started, I seem to get too caught up in shopping around for each item, trying to find the best version for the best price. >.<

On that same note, any recommendations for mattress toppers? I’m kind of leaning towards a memory foam topper with a pad to hold it on, but is that too much padding? It’s a bit of a splurge too, and if it’s unnecessary, I’d rather just got with a simple pad/egg crate topper.

Pretty much, but I’m a returning student.
I still have to get a refrigerator because I have a single this year and my roommate brought it last year. I might by a toaster oven to sneak in as well. Oh and a new laundry bag and a replenishment of K-cups for my coffee maker.

Mattress toppers: if you haven’t seen your bed yet, assume the mattress is the most uncomfortable piece of **** you’ve ever seen, because it probably is. Memory foam seems like a good idea.

arabowner20 - I got a 3 inch memory foam topper from Bed, Bath & Beyond yesterday on clearance, with a mattress pad to go on top. I had 20 percent off coupons for each as well, so it was like getting the mattress pad free! Definitely a good deal. I don’t think it’s going to be overkill - I’d rather have too much padding that not enough & if you have find a good deal on the pads & toppers, why not get them?

Ginab - would you recommend bringing Kcups with? I LOVE mine but I don’t know if its worth having in the dorm?

^ A mattress pad is a must.
I feel sorry for the kids who attend the very last orientation close to move-in day.

Pandora-It definitely depends how much coffee you drink. I’m a huge coffee drinker. I went from New York, where everyone drinks it, to Maryland, where not too many people my age do. My good friend from New Jersey found my machine to be a life saver at some points. (Both of us have legit caffiene addictions), but I possibly could have gone without it last semester. But that’s only because I was in the dorm right next to the dining hall.
This year I’ll be a lot further from a dining hall, so I won’t necessarily be able to stop for coffee on my way to my first class.
It’s also great for late night studying/finals week when the dining halls often have weird hours.
I also have the small machine. My family has a large one. I would not recommend the large one at all for a dorm.

Yes to mattress topper/ pad. I ALSO plan to purchase one.

I got a pad, but not a topper. But I don’t really need a topper because I sleep in a strange way on the bed… >>
