I got one they want me to verify my soph and junior grades...
anyone else get this?

No, but maybe that's a good thing, at least they are considering you.

they do random verification of people's applications. Some people have been asked to verify participation in an activity or service or stuff like that. They just want to keep people honest and try to catch any potential cheaters early on.

Yea, I was sent a letter to verify one of my honors: regional finalist in the women's international scholarship competition. Thank goodness I kept a supporting letter, but it was a letter telling me that I was not the winner.

is it truly random? or do they pick out stuff specificlly

They pick the people randomly, but they probably choose some of the more important parts of someone's application. Someone might be able to argue that they dont have documentation for 4 hours of service they did freshman year, but I doubt you could argue that you can't prove you are captain of the varsity basketball team.
