Anyone hear from them?

Ursinus is great. I worried, when I came here, that I was "settling" for something below my potential, but that concern is gone. I could probably have gotten into some of the Ivies or little Ivies with my stats, but I'm more than happy with my decision. I'm a freshman, and have already been challenged quite a bit, but not to the point of burning out. You'll learn a lot, but you'll also have time to have a life. CIE isn't necessarily what it's cracked up to be; it depends on the professor you get. My first semester of CIE was amazing, because I got a professor specializing in philosophy and religion. This semester isn't so great, though, because I got stuck with a professor from a totally different field. Either way, you're forced to learn about things that are relevant for everybody, not just for a particular major. If any of you are non-science majors, don't be intimidated by Ursinus' reputation as being a bio-only school. I'm an English major, and find the faculty, other English majors, and the department in general to be just as strong, even if it is smaller, as any of the science departments. Besides, you get a lot of personal attention this way.

Be warned, though. There's not a whole lot to do here, especially if you're not into the Greek scene. Collegeville is slow. It seems the college is doing more to provide transportation and organized activities in Philly, but in between those times, unless you have a car, it's pretty hum-drum.

Dani, do you know anything about the Psychology Dept? My D may be interested in Psych for her major.

I actually don't know much about the Psych Department...it's not huge, but it's not small (by Ursinus standards, anyway), either. At any rate, being a science/med, I imagine it's at least decent. Sorry to not have more info on that.

Gepard, if you're still checking this site, help me out. Objectively, if you can, how is Ursinus for biology majors? More specifically, would you do American U in DC or Ursinus for biology? Thx...

I was specifically looking for a Biology school and I picked Ursinus because of it's great reputation and I lived close to some of the SUNY schools which are known for science, what I really liked was that the school is located so close to so many companies like Merck and Wyeth and GSK, if you get lucky and get an internship those are the best places to be. The program is nice and tight and there are always experiments going too which means you've got a good chance of working closely with a professor on research instead of being tucked in a lab like a grunt at some of the larger schools.
