My daughter received notification last Friday that she had been admitted to Emerson in the BA Theater Studies- Acting program. YAY! Then we clicked on the link on the portal entitled Merit Scholarships where we read a very nice letter stating that she did not receiving any merit scholarships. Boo! So we have been in great discussion ever since.

Today, she received an email inviting her to a Scholarship Reception after Picture Yourself at Emerson in April for "recipients of the Pinnacle, Elma Lewis and Boston scholarships." She has not been notified of receiving any such scholarship, although it is always nice to be invited to a party. :-)

Called and emailed the guy from whom we received the email to clarify. Haven't heard back from him yet. So, of course, the next logical thing is to ask CC! Anyone ever heard of these scholarships? SO hoping it isn't a case of mistaken identity!

I received the email too. Unfortunately it seems they sent the email to a vast majority of this years applicants by mistake. Last I heard, they claimed they would be sending a follow up email later today. Sorry if this is disappointing.

Yes, we just received the follow up email. This really makes me angry as my daughter got very excited about it after all our difficult conversations about whether or not we can afford Emerson without some additional scholarship money. This is stressful enough without that “tease” from them. I hope this is not representative of the professionalism of the Emerson administration.

As a parent of an Emerson freshman, I can say I’ve found the staff to be extremely helpful, professional and friendly. Mistakes do happen, though that sounds like a pretty big one.

Thanks for the feedback, @cellopop. That is good to hear!

i got the same emails, both the mistake and cover up! my dad, as an emerson alum, was definitely offended by the mistake. extending an invite to a scholarship reception exclusively for recipients is definitely an awkward one.
