Anyone here taking second language classes for several years? I've been taking French since I was about 4 years old up until my senior year, so about 13 years.

The thing is, though, that I will probably never use French once I graduate.

Is anyone else in the same boat as me? :p

Nope. I took french at first in primary school, but when I switched to public school, we didn't take language until 7th (some 6th) grade. So I took four years of French (starting from 4th grade), but not for SEVERAL....years.

I had to take Irish for all 13 years in school. Hated every minute. Also took 6 years of French and 1 semester each of Spanish and Italian in school, and a year of Japanese in college.

No. I have been speaking Spanish ever since I can remember. And now it is definetly useful, especially since everywhere I go someone is speaking it.

I'm on my 11th year of French, because of immersion programs in middle and elementary school.
I'm not taking French next year or senior year (at least at my high school) because I'm taking the highest level this year. I really want to keep taking it, though, just so I don't forget some before I get to college.

Took Arabic and Hindi for 8 and 10 years respectively..

Spanish for 6 years (although only completed the equivalent of AP Spanish -- not fluent).

English is my second language and i've been taking it since first grade...lol

Yeah, I took eight years of Greek...not fun
