Hi,

First time I got a 740m750v by taking a practice test. That was in March.
In December I got a good night's sleep and woke up early and decided on a whim to retake, standby. I got 780m760v.

YMMV

I just took the December SAT after self-prepping. I got a 1540 (780 M, 760 V).

I did about 8 practice SATs out of the Real Sat book over maybe 5 weeks. I also skimmed through the tips in the front of another prep book, Barron's I think.

I'm also going to study for the new SATs...but just for the writing section. I'm going to use the old SAT II Writing prep book by Kaplan and I also have a new SAT prep book but I'm not sure how good that is at prepping for the writing section.

My biggest suggestion is to double check EVERY math question since I caught about 10 errors when I went back on really simple stuff. For verbal, I think I just got lucky and knew most of the vocab.

Oh, and you'll probably do better on the real SATs than on a practice one since you don't try as hard (at least I don't) on the practice ones. I got around 1420-1480 on practices but 1540 on real.

Hopefully this helps...I'll check back if there is anything else I can tell you.

Haha Pygo we got the exact same score with the exact same breakdown.

One tip: READ EVERY QUESTION, NO MATTER WHAT YOU THINK IT MIGHT SAY. This is how I missed my 800 on math.

Lol, yeah that's cool.

I don't know how I missed the 800 either. Probably on something really simple :(. Ah well I'm happy anyways. Got higher on verbal than I thought.

So_Delirious, your the type of guy with natural sat abilities. something i truely admire.

Self prepped and brought score from 1000 to 1400 (700M, 700V). For verbal, I just memorized barrons 3500 word list. For math it was just "natural" I did not study for it

Did nothing for it, no self-prep, got a 1530.

Usually it's intrisic knowledge.
