anyone here wear earplugs during the SATs?

Hi. I'm new to this forum, and i've been reading the other topic about SAT testday tips, and i saw someone bring ear plugs to the test.

I'm quite a sensitive person in that noises distract me easily... so should i wear my ear plugs to the sats? anyone else does this?

You need to do what is best for yourself. SAT exam is not a popularity or cool thing......is is all about doing the best you can.

hey, if it helps you get a better score, more power to you! :)

You can wear earplugs? What if you bring something that has wireless communication with someone else taking the same test in a different school? That would be considered cheating?

Please respond: Can we wear earplugs during the test?

I wore earplugs during the last test and increased my score 240 points with no preparation

Kevin43: awesome man, i'm probably gonna wear them

but who else here likes to talk/whisper to themselves while they are doing math?

I would wear ear plugs, but the risk of being chastised by my fellow classmates is too damn high.

holy crap, that's a good idea. thanks!

"I would wear ear plugs, but the risk of being chastised by my fellow classmates is too damn high."

If you live in a large enough metropolis, just take the test at a testing location different from your classmates.

This is going to seem like a really silly question, but where can you buy earplugs?

Hm.. CAN you just change testing locations like a week before the test? This is my first time actually taking a test at my school, and I fear I'll get distracted by people I know being there! I want a change.. >_<

Yeah, I get distracted easily too, which is why I always choose the 2nd closest location. It's not too far, but there'll be way less people that I know there so I can concentrate. I think there might be a testing location fee and you might not be able to get into it because it might already be full, but check on CB's website.

I saw ear plugs at Target!

Instead of ear plugs, the real question is can you wear.. ear muffs

Guys, I thought I was the only on who came up with that idea. I will wear earplugs for SAT1. Remember, you can buy tyhem in any decent pharmacy. On the back of every box, there should be a decibel rating for your earbuds and you generally want to get the ones with the highest rating (greatest noise cancellation). (mine were 32 decibels on 1-30 scale- yes above 30).
good luck to you all

i always read the question/ passage to myself out loud ( whispering, of course) because the brain can comprehend/concentrate better this way.. so ear buds wouldnt really work for me..

yea, because of people like you we need to wear ear plugs !!
