So I'm a sophomore in high school(public) and I see that almost everyone on here are in AP and/or honors courses. I mean good for you guys but is there anyone on here that are in their grade level classes? Like if your a sophomore, are you in all sophomore courses? I feel like a dumbass reading your guys post haha! Don't get me wrong I'm a great student and get A/B's. I guess I'm your avegae jock too (well female jock) since I spend more time playing and thinking about soccer. I just wanna know if there are any "avegerage" students on here like me and if so what are your college choices? I'm curious! :)

I don’t know, it’s hard to say. What do you mean by grade level classes?

My courses are
English
US History
Geometry
Chemistry
And they are all grade 10/sophomore courses meant for only sophomores. Not honors or AP. I have other courses like drivers ed, communications, photography, and health but thoses are for credits and any grade levels can take those throughout hs.

My sister has a good mix of honors/non-honors classes.

That’s interesting that those courses are for just sophomores; often math and science courses like chemistry geometry are for more than one grade of students because everyone has a different sequence in course load.

i’m in all regular classes. i took honors algebra freshman year, but i didn’t do well enough to continue…too fast for me; math’s not really my thing even tho somehow i tested into it. anyway, yeah…i do much better now, though, and hope to take some honors next year. coming on this site makes me feel so inadequate, haha. i mean, all these sophomores posting schedules that are entirely AP/honors…crazy. i go to a small private school, and there are only two honors classes available for soph year (geometry and chem), so.

Good I felt like the only “average” student on here.haha I want to take APUSH and Adavanced English junior year cause those are my favorite subjects. Do schools allow you just ask to be put in them? Or do you have be tested into them?

@soccer1520 - It depends on the school. I haven’t heard of a school that tests for AP classes - that would be pretty cruel don’t you think! I think most AP entrances depend on sophomore teacher recommendations, so in that case it depends whether the sophomore teacher takes recommendations seriously. Some don’t care and just recommend you if you ask for one. Some care though, and if you don’t have the grade (or attitude for that matter haha), it can take some negotiation (or parental overrides if your school does that). But if English and History are your favorite subjects, I bet you can get in! You can do it soccer1520!
