Anyone know anything about 12th street?

hmm... nyu didn't put 12th street as option for freshman in acceptance packet...

I'm not surprised. It's not even on the housing website. They haven't updated it yet-Water Street is gone for next year too.

Congratulations to all. :)

As a rising junior, I'll probably end up in like Brooklyn or something....god help me. Let me get this straight-UHall doesn't have air conditioning? You've got to be kidding me.

Are all nyu students garanteed 4 years at the dorms?

futurenyustudent: I think there's a mistake on the pdf about the U-Hall's AC.
Here's the features list from the Housing website.
Room Features

* Apartment-style residence hall with bath, kitchen, and dining area in each unit.
* Air-conditioned.
* Undergraduate residence
* All floors coed; single sex in rooms, suites, and apartments.

mizzy; yes.

Yes, as long as you submit your applications on time for all four years.

UPDATE ON 12th STREET DORM

I called about it and they said there is no dining hall....

In that case, the building is extremely close to Palladium and Third North, which both have food courts.

This is odd... everything we've heard has said that 12th street is a traditional style dorm.

Here on NYU's website it says it's apartment style:

NYU > Department of Housing

Right next to 12th street, under "Type", it says it's apartment style.

Any idea?

Pictures of the facade only (from Curbed)

Curbed: Construction Watch: God's Dorm Severs Its Ties

Seems like all the residents hate that dorm and will hate the students that will live in it.

I just got 12th street!!! Is it even completed yet for this year? Haha

Um, it was open last year. 12th Street = Founder’s Hall. . .

IceFire,

Congrats on getting a room at Founders! That is the one my son is hoping to get into. My husband, son, and I visited a friend of his who lived in Founders the past year. He really liked it. Of course, everything was spanking new, spacious rooms, with higher floors having nice city views. The Founders resident also noted there were a lot of specials, promotionals, things/ food? for free at Founders given it was just newly opened.

I personally like the size of the rooms and the cleanliness. Of course, I thought the walk (from 12th St. and 4th Ave.) to WSQ/ school buildings is longer than I would have chosen for myself, esp. with rainy or snowy weather. I’m not sure how efficient the NYU shuttle is and how often it runs. But I guess that is always an option. Sonny told me he likes the time before and after class to walk and to have some time to himself.
