Anyone know anything about the Diederich Scholarship?

<p>I plan on applying for this scholarship and don't know anything about it besides the info that it gives on the website.</p>

<p>I know that it's the top scholarship at Marquette so...</p>

<p>How competitive is this scholarship? I know only 1 student is chosen, but does anyone know how many students apply per year?</p>

<p>Do applicant's stats (ACT, grades, etc.) matter more than other things like the essay and recommendations?</p>

<p>It says the applicant needs to be in a difficult financial situation, so how heavily does this come into play?</p>

<p>I work at a newspaper and also had an internship there and one of the sports writers is actually an MU alum. He said he was the editor or something of the newspaper at Marquette and he agreed to write a recommendation for me. Will this help at all??</p>

<p>Thanks for the help in advance. I visited MU and really like it, but the cost is steering me away from the school, so it would be nice to get this scholarship haha.</p>

<p>I have found the admissions office to be very candid and helpful about the profile of kids receiving the various scholarships. I did not ask about this one or I’d relay that, but I suggest you phone them to ask this question.</p>
