Did anyone on the waitlist hear back yet, or we have to give them time to see how many of the accepted applicants have sent in their deposits?

i haven't yet :( but don't worry, just try calling them on monday or something

I haven't heard anything either.

yeah me either

nothing here either

i havn't heard back either... just wondering, what have you guys all done to try and get off of it?

I heard middle May so they can see how many spots they have available and deliberately chose the students who will take up those spots.

You have more of a shot if you send them a letter telling them that UVA has been your dream school, sort of like another admission essay, and tell that if admitted you would definitely go. Be honest and sincere. If when you were a little child, you remember your parents dressing you up in a Virginia Cavaliers shirt and hat, and that sparked the beginning, tell them. Be creative!

Have you guys accepted admission anywhere else though, and if so where? I know we'd all be like "THAT" to rescind our acceptance to these other schools.

Please keep us posted on any sucess you have. Please know we are all keeping our fingers crossed. The best and only advice I have is don't sit on your hands. The little I know about waitlist is take some action. Bruins advice is a good starting point. Ask for the sale....

To all of you waiting, don't forget to give your counselor that form UVA sent you for the Final Transcript to be sent to them. I almost forgot it completely until my daughter got her letter from Georgetown putting her on an extended waitlist...Then I checked my UVA file and found the form! Meantime her deposit is in at Hopkins...

Wait,

I thought you send them the final transcript including the last semester of senior year after you are admitted. Am I wrong?

My deposit is in at University of Maryland, College Park. Where are your deposits?

boston college

Penn State University Park

BTW, is it a good school?

Penn State University Park

BTW, is it a good school?

For Business and Engineering, its respectable.

Boston College is amazing, tushar707. I think it's in the league of NYU, Lehigh, Brandeis, and other private universities.

What do you think of my choice, UMD CP?

BruinsJEW, if you want to study Economics or Architecture, Maryland is a good choice.

MightyNick, I noticed that you are transfering out the Penn State University Park and you are studying Business. Could you tell me why? (I plan to study Architecture, by the way.)

Because I think UM is a better fit for me. I'm not a big fan of the party/jock atmosphere, and PSU is the #2 party school...and I can see why. UM has a great Economics program too and its more prestigious overall. (I plan to go to UVA though, if I get off the waitlist).

If you're studying architecture, PSU is a good choice! I have a few friends there who are pretty smart and still find the program challenging. I think its one of the few schools that has an architectural program.

I plan on studying international business, and I love McIntire since it's one below UPenn Wharton. I want to study abroad in Shanghai or Tokyo in the midst of my junior year.

MightyNick,

You got into Ross School of Business at Univ. of Michigan? That's pretty darn good. Ross is ranked like 6, and UVA is 2. So wherever you end up, your pretty much set.

Nope, not Ross. I'm gonna apply there after my sophomore year. I could have applied as a transfer, but I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have gotten in as they take only 3% of transfer applicants.

I think overall Ross is tougher to get into than McIntire. Ross's acceptance rate is somewhere around 30% while McIntire's acceptance rate is around 50%.

I dont really like Business Week rankings as it has schools like Emory and Notre Dame ranked above NYU and Michigan for Business! In US News Ross is ranked #3 and McIntire is #8, but I really dont think there's much of a difference between the two.

BruinsJEW, I come from Shanghai! !

Shanghai is a very modern and exciting city which is full of opportunities. I love my hometown, but honestly, the universities there overall is not as good as that of America. That's why I came here. Yet if you just want to have an "international experience" or you want to learn some Chinese, Shanghai is a good place to go.

If you really interested in International Business, my suggestion is that you study Chinese language well and go to work in Shanghai after you get your degree here. Chinese economy is very very good now!!!
