Anyone on the waitlist hear back yet?

have then been sending acceptance letters to waitlist students as well, or are they not taking any more freshmen and just sending out rejection letters to those who got waitlisted?

My daughter is heading to Va Tech Honors. She is excited about it and wouldn't go to UVA now for anything in the world. She was particularly impressed at how Hokies came together after the tragedy.

Good luck to those of you who are still waiting to hear - but remember that not everyone accepted to UVA decides to attend. And it's probable that someone might come off the waitlist but decides to attend his/her alternate choice, anyway, and is very happy with that decision. As time goes on, often the enthusiasm and interest fades. You're all bright, promising, and excellent students - regardless if you get into UVA or not.

Yes, Rintu, my daughter is an extremely competent girl. UVA was her dream school and she was very dejected when she didn't get in. She was then leaning toward VT (she wants to study engineering), but at the last minute decided that she would stay close to home (less than 30 minutes away) since she couldn't go where she really wanted. Although I will miss her more than I can ever express, I really wanted her to go out of state for school, and am disappointed she chose not to go to VT.

I approached her very casually yesterday and mentioned she should go into her freshman year hoping that everything works out perfectly, but if it doesn't, she could always look into transferring (advice from shoebox, who seems to have it all together :)).

olivian, good luck to your daughter at VT. I'm sure she will have a great experience.

Thanks everybody for all the support. I'm sure everything will turn out fine, wherever our bright students end up going.

I got a decision letter....Denied!

tushar707-- were you a waitlisted transfer applicant?

Yet the posting you put on your blog today says that applicants who missed the May 1 response deadline better hurry up and let the Admissions Office know if they are coming in the Fall.

The blog post says:

There are still a good number of students who have not sent any response to our offer of admission. Today, we'll assume those students have turned us down and change their status.

Basically, those students have lost their chance to respond at this point. I suggested they call our office just in case there was some sort of unusual situation that had prevented a student from responding to our offer.

Dean J. Do you know the status of the transfer student waitlist?
