I like playing tennis and was considering signing up for an advanced tennis class this fall. However, I was just wondering if this would be unnecessary if there is going to be a lot of opportunities for me to play tennis anyway. For example, if I can play intramural tennis or club tennis and be happy, I wouldn't necessarily have to take up time on my schedule because of the tennis class. Men's intramural tennis season is spring? I think I heard that the co-ed tennis is in the fall--anyone care to comment on that?
So basically, 1) Will intramural tennis take up a lot of my time? 2) Or will club tennis be not satisfying for someone like me i.e. I should take the class?

I’m more of a recreational player now, haha, so I think I’d be fine with intramurals. Plus, I think attending mandatory practices (the class is mandatory right if you sign up?) would be for me. I already have my 15 credits planned out haha and don’t want to go over. What NTRP rating are you?

For the record, there’s nothing all that bad about taking more than 15 credits. Plenty of people can handle it. Especially if you’re over because of a p.e. class.

Back on topic, I don’t know anything about the tennis class or any of the classes really. But I’d imagine intramural wouldn’t be so demanding.
Either way, you can definitely find people to play with on campus outside of anything organized if you’d like.

Oh yeah, but I just heard that for a freshman’s first semester, 15 credits is perfect because it allows time to explore campus, groups, st. louis and all that. Does anyone know if your skill level for intramural matters? I’m about a 4.0 NTRP ranking but I haven’t played for over a month and a half :P. I should definitely practice a bit before I leave haha.

D is a rising junior and a tennis player. There are two levels of intramural tennis as mentioned. D played club tennis as she felt they were the more advanced players. You can make club tennis as much of a committment as you want it to be. You can go to practice once a week or you can go to all the practices and they also have a tournament, two or three during the semester. D has also had a lot of luck just searching around and finding people to play - that way you can play when it fits into your schedule.
