@suzyQ7 I am…
@suzyQ7 Yeah, but I thought that was about need based aid. Why would a merit based aid matter on internationals?
@ClownInSuit I thought the same too. A student (intl) from my school got in EA with scholarship. She had a bit higher stats and ECs than me.
Will they send us an official acceptance packet by mail?
My son applied RD, received the letter about “your achievements speak for themselves; but more than that, your hard work and personal traits reflect the kind of student that thrives at Northeastern” and got an acceptance into the Scholars Program today. So excited!!!
I wonder if they had a couple of variations on the email that went out, and there’s not really anything particular with one variation being better than another. Smart people like all of you may be trying to decipher more meaning in it than exists! Either way, congrats to all accepted!
@TomSrOfBoston
Do you why there is a difference in the amount of merit aid between Deans Scholarship recipients?
Also, do you know when we will be notified of need based aid?
Thanks for all of your helpful responses!
@Fuzerabit Need based aid should be included in a separate tab labelled “Financial Aid”, if you submitted the CSS early. Amount of merit aid supposedly based on stats but that varies.
@TomSrOfBoston
Wow! Thanks for the fast reply! Will log in now and check. And yes I submitted the CSS in October
@MamaBear555 congratulations! Do you mind sharing your sons stats/hooks?
Yea just see the decision and scholarship tab and none for other aid :-?
I got in today ! and I received the email as well, but I cannot find any scholarship information (ps I am international student). Is it possible that they accepted me early without scholarship?
@MamaBear555 Congratulations! Another mother of a Scholar here
My S was admitted in EA. Are you guys going for Scholars’ Weekend next month? Remember that NEU pays the Scholar’s ticket, in addition to hosting them for an on-campus night. I’m sure you’ll get all the info soon. S already booked his trip.
CONGRATULATIONS ! ! ! !
@rfaamsia It seems that all accepted intl students on CC have not received any merit aid. Kinda sucks but I guess thats how it is.
That is fine, @Bizziee, btw are there more decisions going to be released before April?
I have a 1490/2220 SAT and 3.88 UW/4.49 W GPA but I didn’t get an email from NEU. I’m from New Jersey and I have a large financial aid need so those two things are definitely going to make it harder for me to get accepted. :3
Just noticed this thread. My d got the email last Friday that read:
As part of my work with the admissions committee, I was fortunate to see your application and I want to send a quick note of encouragement. It is clear that you are very focused and goal-oriented—as demonstrated by your academic success—but furthermore, you possess qualities of engagement, leadership, and drive, much like our students.
I wish you the best of luck with your candidacy.
She applied RD, has great scores (SAT 2260, ACT 36 & NMSF) but a relatively weak GPA of 92.575 weighted. She did/does have a rigorous course load, is an AP Scholar with Distinction (taken 7 AP exams as of end Junior year. Scored two 4s and five 5s - one of the 4s was AP Calc BC - and she got an AB sub score of a 5).
She received the email last night - Acceptance into the Honors Program & Dean’s Scholarship of $22k. She applied to the College of Science & the Dean’s Scholarship letter began with “On behalf of the Dean of the College of Science,…”
For others who received the Dean’s Scholarship, which “College” offered the scholarship?
@suzyQ7, thanks so much!!! His stats are: 34 ACT, 3.91 unweighted / 4.95 weighted GPA, 7 APs as of junior year (additional 5 this year). Many very “pointy” extracurriculars, lots of community service, several internships, Captain of soccer team, etc.; no legacy hooks, not URM…
Good luck to everyone!!
@kittymom1102, Congratulations to your son!!! The kids should be very proud; it’s quite an honor. Unfortunately, my son has a prior commitment during Scholars’ Weekend (he’s going to be in D.C for a conference), and therefore cannot go. It’s a shame. We’ll just have to visit when he gets back.
Is your son waiting on any other decisions?
@AnneKatherine Great stats! Why do you say that being from NJ will make it hard to get accepted?
