I applied early action to Georgetown University, and I haven't met or heard of anyone else doing the same. I was wandering if you received a confirmation of your app in the mail, because I didn't. Also, I wandered if my chances for getting in are significant at all:

GPA: 3.7

ACT: 27 (SAT Dec. should improve)

Classes: All A.P. available (Calc, Gov, Eng) All available honors throughout.

Service: President NHS, Founded Bible Study and SWAP. SWAP is nonprofit student organization working to attain 501(c)(3). In nine months (Nov. 07 - July 08) the organization raised $17,000 towards local park. Service hours are much over 500.

Recommendations: 5 - Mayor, Attorney/Preacher, Teacher, Teacher w/Ph.D, Consultant. I know that the Ph.D's rec was incredible (2 pgs. single spaced) and the others were likely impressive.

If you look at the "Official December 15 Countdown Thread" then you'll see about 35 kids that have applied on CC so far.

GPA/Class rank?

You really sent in 5 recommendations? That's going to hurt you, not help you. If they all say the same thing, then they're redundant and just a hassle.

I'll remember that. The idea was to have one from philosophy/church, academics, civic, leadership, then they required one from a business teacher.

Next time i'll leave out the mayor I think.

A teacher of mine sent his sister, a "distinguished alumni," in to the admissions office to recommend me. Do you think that would add any advantage?

^maybe slightly, but a 27 is pretty low for Gtown, if you end up getting at least a 30, then your chances would go up significantly.

yea 5 recs will probably hurt you in the long run, especially with who you picked...you'll just look like you picked people with qualifications who don't necessarily know you
and the ao will get irritated at having to read so much

I applied to Georgetown EA as well... I havent received any confirmation since my personal data back in august... i was scared until i saw i wasnt the only one

i'll apply to Georgetown RD and here r my stats: 31 sat, 2000 act, 800-650-680 sat II, uwgpa 3.8, wgpa 5.6.. 480 hours EC, tons of leaderships, fluent in 3 languages, learning chinese and japanese etc....i really want to get into this handsome school!
