Anyone took the SAT and the ACT?

i took both and the scores are actually the same apparently...according to the chart.

33 ACT and 2190 SAT

What chart? Can you provide the source?

To me, it seems like the ACT questions are easier than the SAT. But the downside is that the curve is wicked; you can miss only two of 215 ACT questions and still get a perfect. On the SAT, you can miss about two per section and still recieve a perfect. For me, taking the ACT is a lot more comfortable, simply because the questions aren't as vague.

Also, the ACT is more time-dependent; if you're struggling with SAT timing, the ACT probably isn't for you. Especially the science section. I hate that.

Anyways, I found the ACT to be easier than the SAT. Granted, I haven't studied much for the SAT, and could probably do better in October.

In January:
SAT: 2200
ACT: 34 (took it cold, just to see what it was like)
The ACT score was a lot better..

In April:
SAT: 2250
I was pretty ****ed, lol.

In June:
ACT: 36 (this time I studied more, used the Princeton book.. DO NOT use the Barron's book, it's crazy hard and unrealistic)

Yep definitely ACT. I studied quite a bit for the SATs, but only did one measly ACT practice test that comes free with the registration packet, lol.

Probably should've retaken both, but oh well.

SAT: 1490 (before they incorporated Writing)

English: 710
Math: 780

ACT Composite: 35

English: 35
Math: 36
Science: 36
Reading: 31

SAT 1930 (700 M, 620 CR, 610 W)

ACT 33 (32 M, 34 R, 33 S, 33 E) 9 W

Big difference. Is it worth it to retake the SAT?

I wouldn't. I sucked at SATs and decided that just the ACT is a perfectly good option. There of lots of success stories on here with just submitting ACT scores. One woman's daughter got into Yale with just ACT.

There's not much of a difference between my SAT and ACT scores...

SAT: 2130 - 740 M, 700 W, 690 CR (with quite a bit of studying)
ACT: 31 - 29 E, 29 M, 34 R, 32 S, 9 W (with very little studying)

The questions on the ACT were a bit easier in my opinion, but the limited time hurt me more on the ACT than the SAT. To me, ACT writing was about the same as SAT writing, ACT reading was easier than SAT reading, and ACT math was harder than SAT math.

SAT-2280(800M, 800W, 680CR)
ACT-34 (cant remember0

I think SAT means much more since it is more of a logic test. ACT questions were kinda gay. Like the science test. In no way does that reflect your scientific abilities.

SAT with prep:

2200 (770CR 720M 710W) 9 essay
2170 (640CR 780M 750W) 11 essay

Composites: 1550 and 2300

ACT, no prep:

28 (don't remember breakdowns) and . . .
31 (35 M, 35 English, 31 Reading, 25 science, 10 essay)

I found the ACT easier.

guardiandevil423, exactly how can test questions be "gay"? I don't understand.

Not gay in the literal sense. Gay here is intended to have a negative connotation--implying that the questions were perhaps bad or stupid if I'm not mistaken.

SAT 2310
ACT 34

I though the ACT was much easier - I didn't study for it at all (though I did study for the SAT)

sl8r, isn't your SAT score higher?

19382,

I don't know. My conversion chart puts my ACT score at a 760x3 = 2280 SAT so you're right, my actual SAT score is higher. However, I got a 710 on the math section of the SAT and my ACT conversion for that is still a 760 so that's a marginal discrepancy. (not to say that I wouldn't mind an extra 50 points)

ACT 35
SAT 2390
Thought the SAT was easier

They're both really easy. 2330/35. I'm retaking both for 2400/36.

I haven't gotten SAT scores back yet so here are PSAT

PSAT (with lots of prep, but a big disaster in CR)
2170
620 CR (about 760 on one section, 480 on the other. ouch)
800 M
750 W

ACT (no prep and hardly any sleep)
31

Planning on retaking June and October for 36.

SAT: 2350 2nd try (770CR, 780M, 800W)
2290 1st try (760CR, 760M, 770W)
ACT: 36 1st try (35E, 36R, 36M, 36S)

ACT was easier.

SAT first time for real June of Junior year (this year): 2400
ACT (the only preparation is a practice test sophomore year (32) and a 24 in 7th grade): 35
I did take two PSATs, a practice test with my school, and their online practice test the night before. no classes though
I thought the ACT was easier because the wording and the intent to trick annoys me with the SAT
FYI Subject tests: 2390

Sat: 1440/2140
2nd time : 1430/2200

Act: 36

a huge gap xD
