I have SIRed to UC Irvine and my transfer contract was that I need to get a B+ in my last major preparation class. Unfortunately I received a C+ in the class. I have messaged my counselor but they will probably take until Monday to respond. I’m worried that they will decline my admission and would like to know other’s experience/opinion.
They might. 50-50. People have gotten rescinded in the past. We can only hazard a guess.
I see, thank you for the response. I guess there is nothing I can do but wait for the counselor’s response. Hopefully everything will work out.
Good luck.
Had to get a 3.0 and at least a B- in every class, and I got a C in a major class (we don’t have the +/- system) that put me at around a 2.5 for the semester. My grades came out after the SIR deadline so I emailed my admissions counselor, who asked for my unofficial transcript and told me that my admission would be discussed with the faculty of my college. I was fortunately allowed to keep my status. By that time, I’d already completed online orientation assignments and class planning, as well as submitted necessary documents, and also had a video conference call (kind of like Skype) with the head of my college where I explained my situation. She told me that she had no idea what would happen to me, as Admissions was in charge of these matters, but I’m sure it didn’t hurt that she’d known my name and face before deciding what would happen to me. Good luck, I know it’s a scary place to be. Hope everything works out for you.
Thank you for the detailed response!
I have also attended my orientation and enrolled in future courses so I will make sure to tell my counselor that.
I am glad that there are people with positive results.
It depends on how far you missed the required grade. I know that sometimes, admissions will tell you that you need a B when they’ll most likely be okay with a C. It’s just that they don’t want you to shoot for a C and end up getting worse than that, in which case they’ll have to rescind.
Go to MyMessage Center and email your academic counselor directly. I had the condition of receiving a B in Calc 2 and I got a C with the rest of my grades as an A and my counselor said it was fine. Usually they get back in a couple of business days, but it is the long weekend so they might have a lot of catch up to do!
