A Few Days Ago, someone posted the following. While I don’t know much about “Ohlone College” - for some reason the dates posted there have been pretty accurate. This is what they posted:

"So after searching long and hard, I finally found the (tentative) release dates of TAGs for each campus. If you type in Transfer Admission Guarantee on the Facebook search bar (yes, I found it on Fbook…) you will see when you scroll down the page a post from Ohlone College Transfer Center that looks like this:

FALL 2011 Transfer Admission Guarantee decisions are beginning to come out:

Campus (TAG Decision Released)
Riverside (November 5)
Santa Barbara (November 8)
Irvine (November 10)
Davis (November 12 (a.m.))
Merced (November 12 (p.m.))
San Diego (November 15 (a.m.))
Santa Cruz (November 15 (p.m.))"

So UC Irvine is releasing their decisions today…I guess it will be around 3~4pm? I really hope that UC Irvine sends us the letter that says “congratulations!” instead of “apply first!” but even though UCI sends us the letter that looks like UCSB’s, they would probably send us 2 different letters right? Just like UCSB did?

I am very suspicious of the universities’ motives for releasing letters like UCSB. If UC’s are going to release responses like UCSB, they don’t need to wait till the last minute to do so. In fact, Oct. 15th was a great time to let us know they were going to look at our tags after we pay the $60 for applications.

This makes me upset because I know they are purposely trying to screw applicants over on purpose.

Bea5T9, BECAUSE transfer students like me will most likely not waste the $60 if we don’t tag in to a 3rd or 4th choice UC. Ex. If UCSB sent me a rejected Tag, I would not even bother applying to the institution. I am not submitting my UC applications until I find out where I tagged. $60 is a lot of money to me. I have bills to pay instead of paying $60 to all UC’s.

Don’t you think it is also odd that states don’t just swap out of state students. Why is it they squeeze out a significant percentage of Californians to take out of state students who will pay double for our UC’s. Thus, forcing those squeezed out students to pay out of state tuition to other states. No, it has nothing to do with your 4.0 gpa. There are plenty of 4.0 students that have been rejected by ALL UC’s. Google them and read their complaints. Basically, we are getting caught in a fixed market gimmick disguised as academic institution price wars.

I just Irvine’s TAG result email/post on the site:

So since it says on yours “you did not
meet one or more of the requirements to receive a transfer admission guarantee” does that mean the other response was an actual guarantee?

That’s a bummer. Especially since UCSB accepted your TAG.

yeah, Irvine has really weird requirement, but can I just think the letter as acceptance if it doesn’t say anything like “you didn’t meet some requirement blah blah”? Why can’t they just tell us we are guaranteed? :(

ONLY thing would be the units problem. I took some classes at UCSD through cross-enrollment…but that doesnt make sense I was never a full time student there and all my class were through the cross enrollment program…I had to go through my CC just to take the classes.

I am going to try to appeal this because I think its BS. I guess I will try calling.
