Anyone's TAG get approved yet? Oct 15 is earliest date right??

I got in to ucsd!!! Omgggggg today is fuqing bad ass becus i also got 100% on my math midterm!!!

^ you mean you didn’t get the “rejection” letter right? ^^

I called UCSC and spoke to someone there who obviously did not know exactly how the process worked. At first she was going to transfer me to an “evaluator” but came back and said that they are not going to be discussing the decisions. I kept trying to explain to her that there was some kind of mistake. I had taken some classes at one CC and the program was not recognizing that I repeated those courses at a different CC. She kept telling me that the program says my GPA is below a 3.0. Basically her answer to everything, was “you don’t qualify” She could not answer my specific questions about how the GPA was calculated. I don’t think she was trying to be difficult but that she was just telling me what she was told. Finally, I said “There has to be someone I can talk to about this”. That’s when I got her supervisors number. I will be calling back in a little bit to speak with him. Wish me luck, guys =(

In for Davis and Santa Cruz

@Ray7863 All TAG’s are “conditional” lol. Conditional approval means that you’re approved given that you complete the requirements…

Dear Christian,

Congratulations! Your admission to UC Santa Cruz for fall 2011 through the Transfer Admission
Guarantee (TAG) Program is conditionally approved.

Remember that you must submit the UC undergraduate application no later than November 30, 2010
for fall 2011. If you make any changes to the course work you originally listed on your TAG
application, be sure to include them on your UC application. In addition, beginning in mid January, you
will be required to update your course information via the online UC Application Update. Changes to
your course work will only be reviewed when our campus evaluates your fall 2011 UC application for
admission.

All in-progress and planned course work must be completed with grades of ‘C’ (2.0) or better.

For more information on course preparation and selection criteria for your intended major, refer to the
majors and courses information at http://admissons.ucsc.edu/discover/majors</a>.
Learn more about UCSC by visiting the campus or viewing our web site: [University of California, Santa Cruz](http://www.ucsc.edu).

We hope you will join UCSC’s incoming transfer students for fall 2011, and don’t forget to file your UC
application no later than November 30!

Was anyone else’ tag “conditionally approved”?

Pump your breaks guys the UCSD letter means nothing. There were no rejection letters unlike UCSB and Irvine. Its pretty obvious they havent looked at our applications yet.

I repeat the letter means nothing dont make any long term plans based on your belief you got in. Im sure alot of you have all the requirements but dont get your hopes up if theres any hole in your application they WILL find it…trust me.

@Christian612

Yes I got the same exact message.
And I said this before

“All TAG’s are “conditional” lol. Conditional approval means that you’re approved given that you complete the requirements…”

lbc123, I have to disagree unless you have proof of legitimate outside information.

The UCSD tag says to check the box for UCSD TAG on the UC application. The boxes are only for acceptances or “provisional” (technically all are provisional). If you did not get a TAG, then you do not check the box.

ok, so I am pretty sure no one cares, but here’s an update. I talked to UCSC. They said that they do NOT individually evaluate TAG apps. He said, whatever GPA the program calculates is the GPA they go by. He acknowledged that one of the classes I retook at another CC was not being properly recognized as a repeat, but they are absolutely not going to revisit the apps. I think someone said that on here, but it bares repeating: there is absolutely no hope of appealing a TAG decision. He suggested that I put a note in the comments section of the UC application POINTING OUT that I retook the class (and any other quirks). You would think that they check for this kind of stuff?? He said, if, at that time, they see I meet the TAG requirements, I should have no problems getting in.

Oh well, I am not going to hold my breath…

edit: just saw the other thread. Interesting that no denials have come up. Guess, just wait and see. I still think I’m good though.

@wingedyoshi

no denials for UCSC?

So when it says your tag got approved
does that mean you are also guaranteed for your major?

my tag was denied from ucsc- they said my gpa was not above 3.0 but it is!

i also retook a class…now im afraid that they’ll reject my regular application and not pay attention to my grade trend and gpa.

this is so frustrating…when it comes to the uc’s, NOTHING is guaranteed.

anth.santos,

Apparently RockLobster did not get a tag approve for UCSC. You may ask him if you want a copy of what it says.

In-case you meant, UCSD, no one has posted a denial yet. Check the “Official UCSD TAG Decisions Thread” and this one for updates. Hopefully someone can provide us with one…

Well i applied to UCSD as a pharmaceutical chemistry major and i got a rejection letter. I have a 3.82 GPA(3.94 math/science) but im missing the engineering physics sequence and organic 1B, calc 2a and 2c. I put planning to complete organic 1b, phyics 4a, and calc 2a for spring. I have been enrolled in school consistently even through summer intercessions I will be igetc certified and have have been working in a pharmacy for almost a year. Why does is say MAY? should i call to ask. Im alittle distraught I really wanted to get a tag with ucsd =[. What could have cause my acceptance being revoked? I did take a calc 1a at cal state san fransisco could this have done anything?

Dear _________,

Thank you for filling out the UC Online Transfer Admission Guarantee (TAG) for fall 2011. We’re glad
you’re considering UC San Diego for these next few significant years of your life!

Here’s some important information: It appears from your application that you may be ineligible to be considered a TAG applicant. But we still want to encourage you to apply as a regular transfer. Depending on completion of transfer admission requirements as well as competitiveness in the applicant pool, UC San Diego could be a great choice for you.

After you submit your UC Application online (deadline: November 30), we’ll send you an
email confirming receipt and letting you know about next steps.

As a transfer student, you’ll want to learn about your major early on and complete as many
lower-division preparation courses as possible before transferring. You can learn more about major
preparation on the UC Transfer Admissions site.

Remember the deadline to submit the UC Application is November 30, 2010.

Office of Admissions
UC San Diego

Wow so maybe the UCSD tags were an actual decision?

tag approved everywhere except merced… my heart is truly broken

@anth.santos:Davis is pretty much secure for me(there is probably one loop hole which may make ineligible but ill call them tomorrow so they can know early on of my situation

So my tag was approved for UCSC, but it said:
“Guaranteed admission through UC Santa Cruz TAG does not ensure admission to a Jack Baskin School of Engineering
major (bioinformatics, bioengineering, computer engineering, computer science, computer science: computer game design,
electrical engineering, and information systems management). TAG applications that indicate one of these proposed majors
will be reviewed by the Baskin School of Engineering, which will contact you separately with their decision.”

I applied as a Computer Science major, and I’m anxious to learn if I got into the major. Does anyone know when the School of Engineering will send out their decisions? I really do not want to wait another month! lol

DOOMMAN

i got the same letter from UCSD… im in the same situation…I know i am eligible as well. Im gonna call tomorrow to ask them…
