My TAG got accepted to UCR yesterday. I got 71 units, and I only have 2 more IGETC classes left to take. Im a bio major and I still need to take the physics series

Im psych without all pre-reqs i need 2. igetc will be complete spring 11. but naw for tag you only need 30 units at the time of application, then by the time its spring you should have 60 in order to transfer in the fall as a junior with 60 units. you should call the admissions office on monday and figure out whats going on though because it sounds like theres been a mistake somewhere.

I got rejected yesterday… and I can’t think of the reason y. The only thing I can think of is that I am taking non-calculus based physics for bio major, and the major requires calculus based physics. However, assist.org also says that I’m fine as long as I complete 3 year series (e.g. calculus(1yr), chem(1yr), ochem(1yr)) which I have. Hopefully I will make it into Davis though, since that’s the course requirements I focused on… anyway, dying to hear back from Davis and ask UCR the details of my app… Congrats to those who made it, and sorry for those who didn’t but hopefully some were by mistake…

raymond, i believe you have to be a full time student at your current college at the time your TAG is written and maintain your full time status through spring except for some special part time status cases. but units don’t matter, it just has to be 30 minimum at the time of TAG and 60 minimum by the spring, but you could have taken 1000 units as long as they were ALL taken at a 2 yr college in CA. I’m very anxious to find out why i got rejected also, i’ll keep everyone posted.

Wait what is up with that full-time status thing? I never read anything about being a full time student?

D) CCC enrollment after the TAG is written:
A student must be enrolled full time at the TAG college during the fall, winter or spring term just prior to enrolling at
UC Davis, unless the student is not attending school anywhere that term. Exceptions for part-time enrollment are possible.
[Section I)E)]
*there’s the part time exception i was talkin about * it’s for UCD

but guess if ur not attending school ANYWHERE, ur fine?
meh, best way’s to ask on the pone… on Monday! lol

I really hope davis sends out their approvals monday. No one got theirs huh?

it says PRIOR to enrolling, not WHEN filing a TAG. I was approved and im taking 1 unit this fall semester lol. yeah im burnt out…

For those who got TAG approved, what are your GPA?

By the way, what if many many people applied for TAG, and most of them meet all requirements, so the school will have to accept them. Then how about those who cannot get TAG? What I mean is that I know they can apply thru regular application period, but what if the school has already gotten enough students from TAG??? Then those who cannot get TAG for some reasons will not even have a chance then since all spots were taken???What’s the use for having high GPA anyways if somebody else can get TAGGED with a much less GPA? More TAG is given out means less chance for the students who can only apply thru regular period…I’m just a bit concerned.

Uhhh, good question. I’m sure they reserve some spots for regular transfers though, besides I don’t think there will be THAT many tags approved anyway. Remember, if your tag is approved you still have to complete all of the classes you listed as planned or in progress w/ C or higher, I’m sure many people don’t finish everything they listed, I might not!

@kalon: I don’t think u have to maintain a full time student status cuz I only put 9 units of courses for spring 2011 but I still got into UCR…

the only reason i can think of why i did not get approved is because assist.org says that i need a computer class which they claim my cc offers, but it really doesnt. so i couldnt even take it if i wanted to. so taking no classes in spring shouldnt affect tag decisions other than davis right?

this is the first time in my entire life that i’ve ever wanted a weekend to go by faster…and i have two midterms next week. desperation is a funny thing.

i got accepted or UCR TAG with a 3.0 GPA and will have IGETC completed in the spring, along with all the pre-major classes.

EDIT: my major is Political Science

I also sent a tag for UCSB and UCSD.

@redoplease… I agree!! cannot believe I am saying this, but Monday needs to be here already!!

Honestly, I wouldn’t go crazy ‘waiting for Monday’ or whatever; if the last day to hear back is the 15th, it’s better to look ahead at the 15th and be pleasantly surprised if the results come sooner than that. Of course I’m freaking out on the inside (just checked the TAG website after reading through a couple of pages of this thread), but I’ve got a major Stats exam this week and 3 projects due this month–better to worry about things I know I can still affect rather than something that’s been out of my hands since early September. :-/

(And judging by what people are saying about UCSB, I may not hear from them until next year. Makes me wonder what the point of TAG is all about if that’s the case…)

Good thoughts, GoldenLilies. It’s so tempting to keep refreshing this thread, but I have papers to write and college essays I haven’t started on.

I just want to know so badly…

@GoldenLilies: That was some of the best advise I have seen on here in weeks!

Let’s get back to work guys and whenever the decisions come out, they come out.

yes, and they will get approved!
