Any other fellow APAH takers? Let’s cry about the exam together
I’m confident that It’ll be easy just believe in yourself
I think it’s gonna be the hardest I’m taking this year, though that’s mostly because it’s a new class and my teacher has never taught it before.
@Stalinart @Larkin29 where are you guys in the course? I’m started self studying third week of Feb and know that I’m really behind
We are just finishing indigenous American art, but we already did all the European art up to Frida Kahlo and we haven’t looked at African or Pacific Island art yet.
@Larkin29 oh crap lmao I just started renaissance… stars hyperventilating
hey guys when identifying artworks do we have to know the exact dates or is the century good enough?
If you see in their rubrics, they only want two identifiers, completely identifying the work is not that necessary. For works with exact dates, you have to know them sadly. The ones with centuries, just know the centuries.
@Stalinart Ah what the heck? The updated Barron’s book says you must provide all identifiers (name of work, name of artist, period/movement, medium, date, location if architecture). But looking at the collegeboard guidelines it says: “For questions that require students to identify a work of art, students should try to include all of the following identifiers: title or designation, name of the artist and/or culture of origin, date of creation, and materials. Students will earn credit for the identification if they provide at least two accurate identifiers beyond any included in the question, but students will not be penalized if any additional identifiers they provide are inaccurate.”
So you basically just need two! Ugh I’m pissed at Barron’s lol I had been memorizing EVERYTHING about every artwork…
But when they say “name of the artist and/or culture of origin” does the name of the artist and the culture of origin count as two identifiers or just one?
So test day is nearing and I just finished the curriculum. Anyone got any tips on important things to go over before the exam?
I’m pretty scared for this test, since my teacher has barely taught us all year. We haven’t finished the material yet, not even close.
Welp, tomorrow is the test.
Saying I’m stressed is an understatement, especially consisering that I’ve been getting suboptimal scores on the practice exams for this lately and that this is the first AP I’m self-studying.
Gardner’s and the AML have been absolutely phenomenal so far though, so I expect I won’t do all too horrendously, haha.
Good luck everyone taking this!
Never would have thought at the beginning of the year that this would be the hardest of all my exams, but it is. It just seems like an impossible task to even be close to knowing about every piece.
It’s really not that bad; if you took the time and energy to study, then I don’t see how that’s going to be a problem. What’s the impossible task for you?
How did everyone do? I don’t think I did very well… Hopefully I passed… The frqs continuously got harder hahh. The mc questions were either rly easy or difficult; I think I missed at least 25 which is disheartening… Oh well.
The attribution though… otherwise I think I did fine - had to guess ~5 MC and was unsure of about 5-10 more, hoping I made some quality guesses :’
Ugh same. I knew the African mask was an Mblo portrait mask but I couldn’t remember the specific culture it belonged to…
@agentaquastar You won’t believe this lmao. I originally put Mblo and I even knew the culture and then some weird thoughts went through my head and I thought that they were saying that it was a mask not on the 250 and we had to find which culture it resembled, so thanks to the tear drop motifs I went and revolved my whole frq around the pwo mask. OTL
Oh well too late now ;-; let’s hope the curve is nice this year.
