AP Art History students Unite!

3 days left till the test, any predictions on the essays?

What are you doing to study? I'm memorizing 1-2 paintings, sculptures, and buildings from each century, about half of them non-European in preparation for the essays which I hope to NAIL! :)

There are is no way I can predict the art essay; they are kind of random........
Where can you find a list of the topics from past years?

I feel like its going to something along the line of modern art and non-representational.

P.S- I havent even begin studying yet.....have to do that tommorrrow.....

Well for sure we know that one essay is about how the human body is depicted throughout history. We also know that essays commonly make you choose a piece from Western culture and non western conventions.

As for studying, I've taken some practice tests that my teacher has ordered and they don't seem to hard. My only concern is that he might have based his cirriculum on the tests, so maybe the content he goes over in class won't be on the test; lets just hope that he covered everything. I also have all my teacher's ppt's, so if you need some just pm me or find me on aim. Art history is a very hard subject to study at the last minute since there are no conventional review books like PR, Kaplan, Barron's, or Cliff. We've been using Stokstad the whole year, and it seems okay in my opinion.

my teacher is making us take notes on everything we havent finished in the book which is all of the 20th century and end of 19th century by the date of the test

i hate that class so much

With 3 days until the exam, this thread needs to BUMPED. I'm in desperate need of cramming info.

It won't be on the human body I don't think... as much as I'd like it to be. The thing they published said for last year's test and this year's there would be something on the human body's depiction and narrative. So it is very likely, considering that last year's was on the human body that this year's will be narrative.

Anyone know the grading scale?

oh yeah thats right... sorry, I remember now, that's why my teacher was going over the vases of the ancient art for narratives.

What books are you guys using? I might study AP art history next year in my independent art course.

so everyone else actually finished the curriculum?

not taking the test (hardly anyone is from my class - i think three people are? The teacher was terrible...we definitely DID NOT finish the curriculum), but we used A History of Western Art by Laurie Schneider Adams.

We finished the cirriculum, but didn't go over asian, african, and islamic art... we used Art History by Stokstad

yeah there is seriously something wrong with my teacher because, despite the fact she didn't finish the stuff, we have to take notes on 300 pages in the book by next week
what's the point anyway

the way the class is structured bothers me; we go for weeks without doing anything, and then suddenly...there is a three chapter test the next day. i have, surprisingly, learned a lot from reading the book - but i wouldn't recommend the class to anyone else.

We used Stokstad's book also. Yes we did go over the entire set, and on block scheduling that's ALOT since January. Non-western art is the only thing I do not feel completely confident on to be honest. I think I'll be ready for it.

does anyone know how the grading scale is??
I know not that many ppl take it...but is that a bad thing in regard to the scale?

We use the art through the ages by Helen Gardner..........it is heavy......
