The Seated Khafre and Earthworks are both really good ideas for #1. I ended up concluding for my non-Western for #1 that “Artist was emperor trying to hold together Chinese empire, so he picked silk as his medium 'cause silk’s a quintessentially Chinese medium and it’d unite the North and South.” Yeah, I’m not getting too many points for that BS.

Also, for #2, I interpreted “domestic” as strictly within a household (since that was what was written in the question). I considered doing a Frank Lloyd Wright house or Las Meninas or even Van Gogh’s Night Cafe, but since none of those are actually depictions of household interiors, I chose not to write about them. I think Arnolfini Wedding definitely fits and Matisse’s Red Room should also fit.

For the 1st essay I used chinese jade bis and marble in the renaissance… Eh… 2nd essay I used the merode altarpiece and marriage a la mode… Overall blah

Am I the only one that misinterpreted the prompts? T.T

Using the pantheon for the first essay is SUCH a good idea!

I know… But I didn’t even mention the medium of the art works T.T I somehow missed that… & it didn’t even specifically say MEDIUM! Uggggh I swear I could have passed… Or even get a 4.

Oooh I see, well, its okay. I completely forgot that marble sculptures from Greece are just copies of bronze originals, so my identification of marble as the medium of importance is completely incorrect… oh well lol

I Used modern architecture for the 2nd essay… is that wrong?

What did you guys Say about the last essay with the quote?

In my response to the first essay, I discussed the use of precious materials in both Sumer and Neo-Sumer. I focused primarily on the Tell Asmar votive statues, whose eyes were inlaid with shell and lapis lazuli, and the diorite statues of Gudea that accompanied every temple he built. I analyzed the evolution of the use of these precious materials – religious in Sumer, political and religious in Neo-Sumer.

I chose Ghirlandaio’s “Birth of the Virgin” and Mary Cassatt’s “The Bath” for the second essay. My response focused on the evolution of paintings set in domestic spaces from an expression humanism to a study of light’s effects on the human figures and an analysis of women’s social roles (which were largely domestic in the 1860s).

I don’t feel terribly confident about either of those, but we’ll see.

I thought the short answer questions were pretty easy, but I’m not sure that I responded to them appropriately. I was able to fully identify all of the “mystery” works presented, but my discussion of the works might have been a bit too concise for their liking.

Overall, I thought the multiple choice questions were fair.

I did the Pantheon for the first also and about the use of concrete

Seems like a lot of people did the Arnolfini Marriage. Any idea why that was the first piece that popped into everyone’s minds?

Do you guys think collegeboard will be lenient about scoring? I misinterpret it so do you guys think I’ll get some partial credits? I’m scared I got zero’s on the two 30 min. essay.

If you at least wrote something down, you will get at least a 1:)

I thought the test was overall pretty difficult I felt. I would like a 5, but I’m not sure anymore. Nobody chew my head off because I’m not discussing MC specifically, but did anyone think 20-25 of the MC were crazy hard? Some were obvious but others wow (like the “what material was used here” questions). I think I might have pulled a 60% MC, maybe 6s on the long essays (I used Arnolfini Wedding too), and a myriad of 2s, 3s, and 4s on my shorter essays. Am I looking at a possible 5?

It’s a really famous piece both in the context of the Northern Renaissance and in art history in general.

It was also the basis for an image-based MC set a couple of years ago, which is why I thought of it.

LOL OOPSIES…

So for the essays, I did Death of Marat and Titians Venus of Urbino, those were easy and good…

FOR THE MATERIALS…

I put Duchamp’s Fountain

all good so far…

and…

WARHOL’s CAMPBELL SOUP CANS…

■■■… I read it as materials not in the medium/materials sense, but rather in the, “usage of certain materials” kind of sense… so not sure what’s gonna happen, but idk how everyone did so well on the multiple choice… like all of the gothic cathedral questions and what century things satirized my existence :D

Well can we talk about the multiple choice yet??

Let’s talk about m/c :)

Oh… Nvm… We can’t discuss m/c.
