I think that the slide-based questions were more BS-able, whereas the rest of the MC were more you-know-it-or-you-don’t. Thoughts?

Vonnegut, I agree. The frustrating thing about slide-based questions, however, is that if you assume a work is from a different time period than it actually is, it can completely screw you over.

But… I just checked on College Board and I found out that I got a 33/36 on mc slide-based!

I didn’t even break double digits…LOL

Considering that the question asked for depictions of domestic space, I don’t really think that a piece of architecture depicts domestic space. If anything, it creates domestic space.

However, the question was definitely vague. I think CB may be more lax in student interpretations of “depictions of domestic space” when they create the scoring guidelines to allow for architecture.

The short answers were the ONLY easy thing on the exam… everything can just die! I’m praying I pass…

I put modern Homes for the domestic space… & I didn’t identify the materials used but rather the decorations and ect used in the works of art… Considering my 30 min. essay and my score on the m/c… I’d be lucky to get a 3.

31/36 right on the first 36 m/c questions. For the Ara Pacis short answer, was Augustus’s goal child birth? Or did I get that whole thing wrong?

August one… I got it wrong because I stated his power and authority. When the right answer is to state the peace during his time

31/36 wrong on the Slide-Based MC. Well, I hope that is a sign of how well I did on the rest of the MC (I’m in total denial of my fail LOL).

Yes, the Ara Pacis was trying to promote roman child birth.

I’m pretty sure that Augustus’ political agenda was to rule as an emperor under the guise of a republic. Nothing related to childbirth.

314159265: While that was true, the scenes that were selected from the Ara Pacis on the test was Augustus’ use of propaganda to encourage childbirth. Here is an excerpt from http://www.moyak.com/papers/roman-art-historical-relief.html:

The Ara Pacis Augustae was built between 13-9 BC, and was covered with relief sculpture that portrayed realistic events and divine intervention. The procession scenes of the Senate and the Imperial families may have harkened back to the Parthenon Frieze but processions were an activity which did take place in Roman society. The fact that children were included in the relief displays the more down-to-earth and familial nature of the Romans when compared to the Greeks, who did not show children in their art. Augustus also included his grandsons in the relief, because they were important to him and had hopes that they would play a role in continuing his dynasty. Augustus had passed laws during his reign that were aimed at encouraging Romans to have more offspring. He was particularly concerned that the patrician class would die out. The portrayal of children in art was a symbolization of successive generations.

I have a question. For one of the long essays, I used Cassatt’s The Letter and Vermeer’s The Love Letter. However, I panicked and got the names wrong. I called Vermeer’s as The Letter and I called Cassatt’s as The Envelope. How bad will that affect me?

^^Ah, I see. I took the left detail to mean that Augustus was listening to the Roman people (keeping up the guise of a republic). Hopefully, I’ll still score well for having correctly stated Augustus’ political agenda.

I put his political agenda too! That sucks… I hope I still get a 2 on that one.

@fiscassosaloon

I don’t think they’ll be that harsh, but for sure you won’t get a 7-9, at most a 6 if you’re lucky… But u should be fine :D

What’s THE HIGHEST score would they give you if you misinterpreted the prompt…& totally ignored the “medium/material” part. I had a good discussion on how they convey cultural aspects though. Cause I’ve seen a lot of wrong and off topic essays that received a 3.

Any thoughts?

Smarty1201: Do you mean a 3 on the essay or a 3 on the whole test?

Honestly, If you didn’t include how artists utilized medium to convey a cultural meaning, I don’t think you would score vesy high at all.

^ 3 on the essay.

So honesty… What’s the highest score id get considering that I didn’t identify medium?

Seriously, Smarty1201, no one on this board is going to be able to give you a definite answer. We can sit here and continously tell you that you would not score high (meaning 3-4, becuase you tried), and the result you will get on your AP test will not change come July. If you did not answer the Essays properly, and can predict you did not score high on the MC, do not continue to post asking if ETS will grant you a high score on the exam. Go be productive and study for some other AP exams if you have any…
