AP Art History Post Test Discussion

Has anyone tried appass to guess their art history score? It looks like they include an extra short essay in the calculation? Looks like it is not up to date in terms of number of questions unless I’m missing something. Any thoughts?

I know that you guys can’t give me a definite score…

But this is what this forum is for right? To talk and discuss about the APAH exam. Idk why you’re being kinda harsh about it.

& with that being said… I don’t expect a 4 on the essay because I know it’s too off topic to receive that score but there’s been really off topic essays that recieved a 3. So since you guys are wiser & etc… I jut wanted an opinion. I’m sorry if it bothers you -___-

Smarty1201, I don’t intend to come of harsh, however, I am trying to advise you to do something more productive with your time becuase since the time the test let out tuesday I have seen you continue to post about the same essay you messed up, on this board as well on a thread you created.

^ haha

I know I’m so paranoid. It’s not even funny.

So can anyone tell me the point of the first 36 in-depth questions about specific artworks? I feel that the rest of the test would be a much more fair and even way of grading. I got a 29/36 on the first ones, which I’m assuming still leaves in shape to get a 5 (even though my long essays weren’t so hot). So what is your guys’ opinion about the first 36? Do you find them easier or harder than the rest of the test in general?

^ I thought the first 5 sets of m/c were easy except for the Goya questions and the seated boxer because I’ve never seen the seated boxer before. Overall the rest of the m/c was manageable.

I thought the first 36 questions were fairly easy…31/36 for me. Some terms were foreign to me though like Marian devotion and Venetian Secession; I mean, what the hell?

^ Yeah I got those two wrong, too! You guys are going to pass for sure with like a 4! -_____- I wish I was as smart

Eh, I got 30/36 right. During the test I was really stressing through the Goya MC and also the question about What style Klimt could be labeled as. I mean, if Arts and Crafts was not an option choice I would have selected Vienna Secession becuase Klimt was inspired by the organic shapes of the arts and crafts movement but he was also involved with the Secession later in life (so I was not sure on the exact date of its creation as an art movement), and I spent probably a good 5 minutes debating in my mind on which to put. I chose wrong. -__-

Wow, you guys did really well on those MC questions; Goya and St. Peter’s killed me.

Fortunately, the essays are 60% of the grade and I think I nailed those pretty solidly (especially the Picasso–I channeled my inner Simon Schama on that one :P).

^Yeah, I think I did better on the essays than the MC even though most of the MC was okay. The only essay I really couldn’t write about was the Turner, and the Baroque Arch one, but that was becuase when I was writing it I was not certain with my justification.

I hope short answers save me because I know all of the works of art shown except for the Augustus one.

Considering I self studied, I was pleasantly surprised, especially for the 10-minute essays.

Did African Nok mask and Great Serpent Mound for the first 30-min, Vermeer’s The Letter and Migrant Mother for the second.

Stupid trains… did anyone else say it was a Monet?

How about Rococo for the Arch essay?

It was baroque architecture and I put Monet as well

The arch? You mean San Carlo alle Quatre Fontane?

I actually went with Caspar David Friedrich. Monet’s a good guess, but I don’t think Monet was from the right art-historical period.

I didn’t get any of the slide-based multiple choice questions wrong, but I’m really passionate about the material (planning to major in art history).

The MC was just frustrating for me. But I’m starting to forget about it now that some time has passed. As for the essays, well, I know where my strengths. Other than the Turner (I called it a Monet or Manet, can’t remember), I knew all the other ten minute ones. For the first long essay, I wrote about the Ka statue of Khafre (diorite) and the Reliquary of St. Foy (gold). For the second one, I did the Arnolfini Wedding and a piece from the T

woooo 900th post!

Got a 5 on the test. I wasn’t really surprised though because I knew the answer to all the short-answer questions…but the essays and the m/c sections were iffy.

My college put up my score. Got a 5, which I definitely wasn’t expecting. I thought my long essays and the multiple choice were shots in the dark, but I know I nailed all but one of the short answers.
