To people who qualified for AP Awards as juniors or younger: Were you handed some sort of an award by your school? A certificate? And, when do the awards usually come out? I'm a current senior who qualified for AP Scholar with Distinction, and my school hasn't mentioned anything yet. -_-

...bump...

My brother got his award in the mail right when senior year started or maybe a little into senior year.

i was wondering the same thing. right now i qualify for AP scholar with honor. but end of this year i will be (hopefully) National AP scholar. do you get two awards? and when do they come??

Notes About the Awards

The AP Scholar Awards are academic distinctions that students may cite among their credentials on applications, résumés, etc. Students do not receive any monetary award from the College Board.

The Calculus AB subscore, Music Theory aural subscore, Music Theory nonaural subscore grades are not used in the Scholar Award calculations.

There are two steps to calculating the awards: First, the student's average AP grade is determined based on all exams taken this year and in previous years. Second, the student's exam grades are checked to see which ones count toward the various Scholar Awards (e.g., an exam with a grade of 3 does not count toward a National Scholar Award). A student must meet both sets of criteria to be eligible; e.g., a student who has a 3.25 AP grade average but only received a 3 or higher on three exams will not receive the Scholar with Honor Award because the minimum requirement is four or more exams.

^ I know that, but my question is, when do you get the awards, and what do you get? ^_^

I called the College Board about that last week. They said the AP award info will be sent to high schools the last part of September or possibly early October. They are certificates.

Thank you darius.

Last year I got mine (as a sophomore) in late September. I imagine they'll be coming soon.

National AP Scholar
Granted to students in the United States who receive an average grade of at least 4 on all AP Exams taken, and grades of 4 or higher on eight or more of these exams.

Man that sucks... all 5s and 1 three. Ruined :(. weeps

Nah jk; I'm kool :).

azsxdc - do you mean you have seven 5's and one 3? If you have eight+ 5's then you're good.

The awards have been recently mailed. We received them in HI today & I've read of others receiving them recently as well.

If you are a state scholar, they mail the award to the Department of Education instead of the student. I guess they want the Department to present it or something.
