can someone tell me if I am reading this right. The AP national scholar: you just have to take 8 exams and get a 4 or above on all of them?

this seems kinda...... wrong. that semester course is equivalent to a full year course

What do you even get from these awards? Do you recieve any imbursement from the huge amounts of cash you have to put in to pay for the tests?

It seems like; if you want them for college resumes; you need to have started them Soph Year, and taken with Junior Year.

Consdiering its 82 dollars per test times 8 = 656 dollars. Now that isn't cheap :/

well I have to take all 8 my junior year. ha I'm gonna have afun week in may

I think it's a definite plus in admissions and getting merit based scholarships

im going to try to pull 8 too

which ones are you going for?

wait. what year are you in? im already a junior so im half way screwed.

im going for bio/chem/economics-macro/envir/history(world+ameri)/math(calc)/physicsb

and i'm going to find the 2 i hate most up there and switch it with a free study of statistics and psychology which are supposdly the easiest.

chem, physics, comp sci, bio, US History, eng, eng, and one other exam. geography maybe.

I think you should think about Stat/Psycho if the purpose is to hit the 8. They're supposed to be 2 freebies.

That's cool that they're switching half-year courses to full-year. That means I can take AP Stats next year (which runs for more than a semester, anyway) and have it count as a full course. Hurray!

And are some of you seriously trying to take 8 APs during your Junior year? I don't know how you're going to study for all of that, but good luck! I had two APs my Sophomore year (Chemistry, Euro History) and four this year, my Junior year (AP Calc AB, Biology, English Language, US History), so hopefully I'll get an AP Scholar with Distinction Award going into my Senior year...

I think the fact of how its once a year is complete retardation. They just want more kids to fail.

There was a long thread on this in July/August...

yea cuz it utterly ****ed off people who spent the past 2 years planning and self studied so many ap's for the award just to find out that their efforts went for naught

yea cuz it utterly ****ed off people who spent the past 2 years planning and self studied so many ap's for the award just to find out that their efforts went for naught

I'm trying to understand what do you mean. Do you mean naught as in , they were unable to completely get it? I'm sure with 3 of them you still get something basic.

I hate my high school, they only offer 2 AP courses, it sucks

2 AP's? that is horrible.

zach? You took AP Chem your sophomore year? adn you survived? Dude that is not the easiest class in the world...

and 8 is not too bad. I'm netting 2 of em for english ( 2 separate tests). So only 6 I am really studying for. I am taking US History and Physics and Chemistry this year. so only 3 left. I am self studying biology nad Comp Sci AB ( for fun!). so one left. I took geography last year and ahd a really good class and beleive that if I cram the month b4 I can do really good. that's zero left

I should take AP Statistics :-P

quick question: I am only considering taking the AP Geography test. Anyone have any experience with this test? I did quitewell in the class last year. but may have neglected some important areas. would it be better to take a gimme AP exam?

Does AP Scholar with Honor or Distinction look good on college apps??? Like decent colleges i mean...

I woudl think so. You prove you know a lot of college material while in high school.

i think all you guys should know that you should be taking APs as a sophmore to get that national thing... bc they expect a 4 on all those AP exams... unlike ur like super crazy... its pretty hard... I took the Euro and Chem and got 3's on both... lol so im prolly not going to be one...

yea I 4got that point.... well I enjoy all these classes so I ahve the motivation to study. plus other acedemic stuff can force me to study if I get tired of it ( grades, a contest revolving aroudn the science nad comp sci topics, etc)

So is it vtran31 and me , whom are stupid enough to wait until junior year and cram them all in? Looks like a long year...
