I am a junior currently in AP biology. It’s been a breeze for me since my honors biology course was very rigorous and all the content is pretty much review. I was recently given an opportunity to do research at a local lab, and I could go there every day at the time when I have AP Biology. My plan was to take the research opportunity, drop the class, and self study the exam. Should I drop the class? Will it looks significantly worse to just have the exam and not the class? Thanks
Why not do your research after school and stay in AP bio?
How will it look on your transcript? Have you discussed this with your GC?
Is the research opportunity formal and would it appear on your transcript?
Will it be explained on your transcript?
I’d go with the research, too, but you need to talk with your GC as to the way it’ll be described in your LOR and transcript.
I would take the AP bio class. You need to be able to do the lab work.
Colleges care that you took the class for admissions, not the AP test.
We don’t know how legit the research opp is. I’d say keep the class and see if you can do the research over summer.
Go to the class. It is much easier to learn when you are listening to the information.
Taking the class is what colleges look for, not the credit. Plus, the class is very heavily reliant on applications and learning from a teacher helps it tremendously.
