Im not doing so well in AP Bio and have realized you NEED a 5 to get credit, I doubt that I can get a 5, so should I just focus on my AP tests I know I can get credit on?

I still want to take it since its only 8 bucks to take it, however I don't plan on studying too hard for it, will i be ok if I get a 2 or something on it, since im done with college admissions?

Getting a 5 on AP Bio is hard work for most people. And since UT only takes a 5 for AP Bio, it’s probably better for you to focus on your other tests. You’re already admitted to UT or some other college right? If so, it won’t affect anything at all with your college admissions unless you fail AP Bio the class itself. But yeah, $8 is a really really great deal for an AP test. :O

The $8 fee comes from a fee waiver by the way. My school district pays for part of the AP Exam, leaving us to pay $56 per test. But, you can get an additional fee waiver if you are eligible for one.

The fee waiver makes sense of it all. We have too many AP classes (I think they offer 25 AP subjects and several sections of the more popular subjects) and students at my son’s HS, so I don’t think the school district would ever consider covering the cost of AP exams. I don’t have a problem with it, really, because I think if I had kids at the other end of the academic spectrum I would resent my taxes going to pay for AP exams.

If you can get a 4 on the AP Test or get 75% on the placement test given out during orientation, you can do the honors biology/genetics sequence (squeezing 3 semesters into 2)

Wow, I would just go ahead and take the test if it was $8. It’s worth a try and you might be suprised with how well you do. I did the best on some tests I just didn’t focus on at all. Just focus on those “toughies”. You don’t have to show them your scores for AP tests. I thought you could withhold the scores if you did really badly.

I decided to not take it because it costs $50 for us. The way I test there is no way I would ever get a 5.

basically during summer orientation, they will announce a day where you can take a placement test. Normally, you will have to take 2 semesters of biology and 1 semester of genetics before you can take any upper division bio class. If you either got a 4 or 75+% then you get to take the 2 semester sequence 315H (honors bio) and 325H (honors genetics)
