I am currently in AP Biology. I have the campbell 6 ed... We spend the first semester for chp 1-16.. then for this semester...we did chp 21.22.23. little bit of 26..and now 32....my teacher said that all the other chapters are about plants..so it really redudant. this is her 2nd year with ap biology...is she right...should i just skip all those chp..are should i self study those chp...also...i heard that on the ap biology test...plants is like 50% of the question..is that right...please tell me...i really want a 5 in may..

Well, if it's any comfort to you, I also have the 6th ed. campbell book. We only got through 1-15 (skipping 11) first semester and thus far second semester have only done 16,17, and now 20. Soooo... I'm farther behind than you and furious with my teacher. Gah. But the 50% thing - 50% of the test is organisms and populations, 25% molecules, 25% heredity and evolution.

I win. We're using the same text, and we've covered seven chapters total.

Yes, seven.

I've picked up a Biology Prep book, and I'm going to start working through it in early March.

We just started 33 today. I'm going to wait a little bit longer to start digging into Cliffs.

Oh wow, my teacher is far behind. We only did a about 10-15 Chapters. Guess I'd better self study.

Haha, I'm right along with you guys (and i have the 6th edition). We're on chapter 12, and there are 50-some chapters in the book, we've been in school over 5 months....the test is in about 3 months.......you do the math.

the AP Bio test is really easy so i've heard

hahaha, u think ur going slow?

7th edition here, did chapters 1-8, skipped to 12, thats what were on =D, and independent reading of 52-54 (ecology)

you guys think your slow? We haven't even opened our books. We're reviewing the structures of the cell right now. Eeekkk! Needless to say, I won't be taking the AP test.

^^

Did you just start the class or have you been reviewing the structures of the cell for the past 5 or 6 months now!???

I've been reading the book (campbell 6ed) alongside the class. The teacher started going really slow so I read ahead. We're just done w/ evolution in class and I'm somewhere around the end of the plant unit. but then my chemistry teacher told me the ap people don't expect you to get through and remember everything in the text so maybe this applies to bio too. I don't really know, better safe than sorry

do you guys have honors bio? cuz that basically covers it all --

Plants are about 50% of the test but the material is not as crucial as the other chapters. The crucial chapters will make you think like a biologist would thing and make you make decisions even if you havent read about it. So the crucial chapters will make you make good assumptions about plants without even reading about them.

Hope this is clear enough, i tried

We only covered 11 chapters (different textbook). I am on genetics right now =(

We use the campbell 6th edition. My bio class is going really fast.

My class has done ch 1-25 (skipped ch. 11 and 21) and did ch. 50-55 over the winter break.

we skip around a lot but we're at 33 right now

Did y'all take honors bio? Cause I took it last semester and I'm taking AP bio this semester and we are only on cellular respiration.

We have only covered about 17 chapters, doing genetics right now; Transcription, Translation, RNA processing was what we just finished.

We had to do some animal physiology (chapter 40 something) on our own though.

why do we all skip chapter 11 and 21 in Campbell? not important?
