Ap Calc BC or Ap Enviromental Science next year

DILEMMA! please help me!

Alright, so I'm scheduling for next year (senior year) and I have five class out of seven filled. I have to fill it with one more class, but can't decide between taking AP Calc BC or APES. And no, I don't want to take both because that will mean I'll have six AP/honors classes senior year.

I don't want to take Ap Calc BC because I'm taking AP Calc AB right now as a junior (I was going to self-study for BC, but don't have the time, and not enough people signed up)....wouldn't that look bad to colleges? But, on other hand, I can get "real" credit in college with BC if I take it.

On the other hand, I could take AP Environmental science. But, I'm sure many colleges don't accept that Ap credit anyway. But also, I DO want to take it because I'll have two sciences under my belt, with physics.

I'm probably going to major in science/math, and I'm top in the class in my calc class. I'm just scared that if I do take Calc BC, colleges will look down on it. I think there will be a class next year.

Thanks so much!

Calculus BC (basically and additional semester or quarter of calculus as far as placement goes at most universities) will be far more useful than Environmental Science for most majors at most universities.

Another option is to continue calculus at a community college, which would be at a college level pace rather than the decelerated pace that is apparently what is available in your high school.

Environmental Science is not looked at in as high regards as Bio, Chem or Physics. Colleges will not look down upon you for taking BC, espicially if that is what you want to do. Take BC, it will be more helpful to you.

take BC- you’ll do fine and it is considered a more rigorous AP in College admissions officers eyes. It may very well help you skip over some entry level math classes in college as well.

I’m still so stuck…

my brother is saying that “wow, your really stupid for not self-studying, and your wasting a class doing something you could’ve self-studied for on your own.” And he said that your going to be, basically," your repeating what your doing in calc AB plus few extra topics. In that case, your wasting your time and could be taking APES"

Now, I don’t want to take BC…

anyone please help?

Why exactly can’t you take BC calc? Like if not enough people signed up, its proctored at the same time as the AB exam so there really shouldn’t be a new proctor? Not sure on AP.

Go to the web sites of the universities you are considering attending. Put “ap credit” in the search boxes. And then look up the major(s) you are considering studying at each university.

You will then be able to compare how useful AP Calculus BC (beyond AB) and AP Environmental Science are.
