Hey guys, I really need help deciding on taking one of these math classes. I'm going to be a senior next year and I would like to be able to get an A to bring up my GPA a bit (3.86 UW)
So a little background, I am pretty good at math but the AP Calc AB at our school is exceptionally tough and for the first time ever I got a B last semester. At our school BC is about the same in terms of difficulty level, from what I've heard from current BC students. Stats is no joke either, but it'll be easier than BC.
So now I need to choose one or the other- I plan on majoring in business (possibly economics) so stats might be more beneficial there. However do colleges want to see more calculus background/ challenging self with going further into calc, and would taking BC make college mathematics easier?

Calculus goes along well for almost every major. Yes, Stats is easier than BC, but I really can not see how I will EVER use any of the Stats material that I have learned (Currently in Stats). The subject is interesting, but the course is pretty awful.

Go with BC. Even if you got a B in Calc AB, Calc BC is like AB + additional material. By that, I mean that the first semester you’ll go over everything that Calc AB goes through. Second semester is where BC separates from AB in terms of material covered. So you’ll have an additional semester to review the material you learned last year and master them, since they will be crucial to understanding the rest of BC. As long as you don’t slack off, it should be fine.

Take BC. It’s just expanding on AB, so yeah while it is difficult, if you’re good at AB, don’t stop now because there is no going back to BC after skipping calc for a year of stats. Just do BC, it will be far more rewarding in the end. Put all your effort into both courses and you’ll get 5’s for sure.
