I'm curious -- for those who took both tests-- which is harder (requires more brain power/creativity), AP Calculus BC or the SAT reasoning test's math?

BC Calc..no doubt about it.

Hahha.......I got 800 in the SAT Reasoning Math section and I'm worse than a novice at calc. What kind of question is this?

BC Calc - 1st year univ math
SAT Reasoning - ~9/10 year school
Both involve problem solving
BC wins

Wait, so BC calc isn't just memorization?

Nope - like all math, learn the basics (BC Calc more intense "basics" with more memorization) - and then figure out how to apply it. Maybe look through some of the FRQ on the CB site.

Dude, I get perfect math scores on the reasoning test and Im in math B, but I cant really say because I havent had any calc bc experience yet

Calc BC. No question.

I cant say one is harder than another, but I can say 5 on AP calc BC test is easier than 800 on SAT I

i got 800 on math sat 1 but i think i'll be lucky if i get a score higher than 2 on bc.

HS_2012, wouldn't that be because you need every question correct on the SAT I for an 800 whereas you need only 65% correct to get a 5 on the BC test?

Look...I got 800 on SAT I math. I would be lucky, (as of now that is), to get 20% of the questions on the BC test right.

BC.....a 7/8th grader can ace the SAT math

LoL I did better on calc bc and math 2c than sat 1 math xD

Honestly that is a dumb question, your dad would probably know even if he didn't take the SAT.

^^ I do not understand.

SAT does not require any specialized math knowledge. It tests more of your problem solving skills. Ap calculus tests on obvioulsy calculus. A person who just finished alg 2 can get a 800 on SAT MAth but would get a 1 on calc. Calc. would be harder in terms of material. BUt SAT math is tricky. I am a sophomore who takes calc this year but only got a 710 in SAT math last year. Overall calc is harder materrial and more material, but SAT is tricky and you must clearly read the instructions.

Yeah, the SAT math is pretty tricky...(I got a 710 as a soph as well) :D

Taking BC next year. I'm a little rusty but I could probably pull off an 800 on math with a bit of studying.

I actually got interested in math in general from doing a lot of SAT math my freshman year. Hopefully, I'll find calc a little intuitive.

I got an 800 SAT Reasoning Math and an 800 SAT II Math Level 2. I took BC last year and got a 5 (and on all of my practice tests I was getting 98% correct).

The problem with BC is it's a lot of memorization and the no-calc section a TI89 can do in seconds... so it's a bit pointless. Nontheless, I did the work and got the 5. SAT Reasoning at least tests your abilities though lol.
