AP Calculus Exam

Which calculator helps the most on the test? Which one saves the most time? I have an 84 & an 89.

You’re allowed to use both on the test during the calculator portions. If you know how to do calculus, there isn’t that much a difference.

That being said, I used by 84 to graph and find definite integrals/derivatives at a point and my 89 to do everything else.

If you’re a real beast with the Ti-89 and know all the ninja methods of doing things, then use it. Otherwise, use the Ti84 + SE with the latest update that uses MathPrint (2.53 and greater I believe, although the current latest version is 2.55).

IMO the 84+ SE is more convenient for the AP exam because it’s so easy and simple to use. All you’ll ever need is one or two keystrokes away, and it really does everything well. Just hook it up with the MathPrint updates. In the end, you’ll be doing the same basic stuff - integration, derivatives, and some graphing (and you can do both just fine on either calculator, although I believe the 84+ is slightly simpler to use), so the calculator won’t decide your fate, it’s whether or not you know the content.
