AP Chem AND Bio

Does anyone think it's not a good idea to take AP Chem and Bio becasue that is what I am planning to do for my senior year. I am majoring in biochemistry and I thought this would be the best preparation.

There is no reason at all you should not take both.

I know peope who took both in the same year at my medicore public school. It's doable.

Thats my plan for next year too. However, I'm taking them because the AP physics teacher is supposed to be terrirble at my school. I think it is very possible, you just have to motivated to do the work, especially in Senior Year.

I did it this year along with Micro/Macro and Calc BC. It didn't go so great. Chem was fine, but Bio has a lot of memorization and with the tests my teacher gave, you HAD to read the book a couple of times (Cliffs would never work). It's definately doable, but it's a LOT of work. I found I didn't have enough time to study for Bio. It's hard especially if you have a lot of EC to deal with.

depends on whether you are okay in those two subjects or not... I took physics and bio together and did fine but I know that the AP Chem teacher is HELL at our school. I mean, if the teacher is good and you're pretty profficiant at the material... go for it

I took both AP Bio and AP Chem my junior year. I found that this is only a good idea if
1. you have a lot of time...like you don't do sports
2. You aren't taking too many APs

AP Bio at least at our school requires a ton of studying. I had to work my butt off because I had swimming and 4 other APs to study for too. I wouldn't do it unless you want to suffer.

me too Tangy...just finished them off.......
Chem is always easy for me, despite what kind(now i am taking biochemistry at my local college and dont feel its that hard)
but bio...you gotta really put some work in it...especially our teacher is a extremely conceited and stiff-minded guy who follows his teaching plan every year even though that dumb plan only finishes about 1/2 of the stuff that will be on test by the end of april.....and every year, according to previous guys who have taken his class, he will just apology sincerly to them:"Guess i will plan better next year">~~~~~
the more invidious thing is that he puts emphasis on plant section...wow...i have already asked he so many times to get some extra attention to the animal physiology part...but we crammed that part at the second half of april, while leaving genetics, ecology, evolution, and so on untouched....
anyway, my self-study for bio worked really well though, much appreciation to the barron book, which, amazingly for the first time maybe, does not overprepare you...lol
anyway...taking them both together will be much fun
